Same, which is why I love the CMCS. If I find a band in there I love I’ll follow their new releases if I get really hooked, but on my own I do like you do.

 

Half the time even then I don't know about it until late haha

 

The Menzingers, Deaf Havana, Creeper all came out in the first two months of 2017 and stayed in my top 5. By comparison I only see one doing the same thing year. In fact, four of my top 5 of last year had come out at this point of the year.

 

You're listening to the wrong releases. This year has been stacked, and we're not even 6 months in.

 

2017: Starset, blink, SOTY, Silverstein (if we count albums from 2017 I found out about after 2017, throw Creeper on there as well as 20SF @bradsonemanband @CSWAPPO )

This year: Hawthorne Heights, A Perfect Circle, Senses Fail, Ryan Key, Mike Shinoda, Breaking Benjamin, The Longshot, Sevendust, Out Of Service (@teebs41 ), and now a possible Andrew McMahon release.

 

See, I don't know or actively dislike several of those bands (BB mostly). For my tastes it just hasn't been great honestly. I do need to go back to the OOS record. CMCS perhaps.

Looking forward to the second half of the year a lot though.

I'm re-visiting Pacific Daydream right now and I'm liking it more than I recall liking it last year.

Man I had a great 2017 looking back. Menzingers, Tigers Jaw, Creeper, Deaf Havana, Turnover, Grayscale, Paramore, Charly Bliss, Citizen, Neck Deep, Remo Drive, Seaway, Slaughter Beach dog, Sorority Noise (at the time), etc

As far as new releases go, I make a habit of checking the new releases thread every Friday and reading what everyone is saying in there. I’ve found lots of good recommendations that way.

Just listened to the Courtney Barnett album this morning! I thought it was great, which was to be expected!
