I’m switching out a light fixture but I live in a very old unit and it doesn’t seem like there is a place for the ground to go. I don’t know much, but there should be the black wire, the white wire, and the ground. But this looks like it just has a place for the black and the white wire, but no ground.

As you can see it’s OLD AS FUCK

You can ground the fixture to the junction box if the junction box is grounded. You’ll need a circuit tester to test if the box is grounded.

Old shit doesn't always have ground wires. That's somewhat newer. When I've done this I usually either leave the ground open or put it on the same as the negative wire. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't. Also try what @kidelectricity said if what I said doesn't work.

Oh ok. Yeah my degree is EE with a focus on computer engineering because of how my school did their engineering programs. I wanted to change my major to computer science halfway through but would have added an extra semester I think and I hated school so that didn't happen
