I think Luminary is the first track. New album sounds promising after disliking Polaris. I loved the single Smile from last year, glad they're extending it for the album.

I love djent, but the heavier, darker, less (traditional sense-)proggy side is what I enjoy the most, so I have never really connected with this band

I would say it's heavier than their newer stuff, but it still has that proggy feel.

This is pretty solid so far. Wish Thompkins had more power or presence in the mix though

 

The closer is fantastic, but wayyy to short.

 

I'm already liking this better than Polaris, but things still seemed a little tamed. I do really like what they did with Smile, those screams got me.

 

I really enjoy this. I listened to the binaural version and it's actually a really cool way to experience this album.

These explain it a bit better than I can. The second disc on the deluxe edition has the band trying a binaural mix of the album, which basically attempts to create a greater sense of 3D space to the audio when listened through headphones.

 

That’s really cool. But the fact that it says “addition” instead of “additional” bothers me lol

 

No threat for the new album War of Being, but it’s r pretty fantastic. Beautiful stuff and Dan never sounded better

 

His vocals on War of Being might be his best performance yet. I really like the album so far. I feel like they've managed to fine-tune their sound for maximum effect here, and the result is a fantastic record.

 

Absolutely agree, and the album was groovier and slower than I was expecting, but no less exciting!

Played Altered State today and it's aged so well. About halfway through War of Being and I'm impressed.
