Really gracious speech by Ajla there. Quite happy the crowd didn’t treat her as a villain at the end. She played phenomenally.
Quite the night in Flushing. Having Alja over Serena in my bracket was one of the few predictions I got right. Granted, I didn't think Alja would have to play so well to beat Serena but it took a monumental effort given how well Serena played throughout the tournament. I didn't think anything would top Agassi's sendoff in the '06 Open but this absolutely dwarfed it. On the men's side, it looks like Daniil is finding his form just in time to face Kygrios who looks absolutely locked in.
This Medvedev-Kyrgios match is living up to expectations so far. Nick took the first set tiebreak. We got some drama with Daniil complaining about Nick's box making noise.
Nick has always had the talent of an all-time great, but the chaotic energy and mental stability (in a sporting sense) of a rodent on speed. Fascinating and very sad career… that he could still capitalize on. Took a break from the match for House of the Dragon, but keeping up with it on Twitter and it seems it got even more circusy
Good amount of humility in Nick's postgame interview -- for his sake, hope he's turning a corner with his recent successes.
Wow. Tiafoe playing incredible stuff against nadal here. Really want to switch over to see kyrios doubles for the drama but Tiafoe looking like he could see this out 30-15 in 4th set first game point was incredible.
Tiafoe not getting the break in the fourth set's first game is gonna haunt him. Also probably shouldn't have been forced to play through the roof closing, which is an extreme disadvantage for the server.
I hope he wins the whole thing regardless we get a new grand slam winner so I'm stoked if I'm djokovic I'm thinking I shoulda just gotten vaxxed, I'd be sitting on 22-23 majors by now
