I didn't watch the video, but Tenet left me feeling the same exact way I felt after leaving the theater after Miami Vice...so I'm laughing.
Oh boy big day for me! my controversial (AT THE TIME) opinion on tenet finally being offically validated by a respected youtuber.
Can’t believe there’s still people set on hyperbolically hating Tenet, lol. Y’all are a bunch of dull ass dorks.
Off topic, TENET-wise, but, yeah, Patrick’s vids are getting longer and if you’re not already a fan of his work, then it can be a lot. I also wouldn’t recommend this analysis being your introduction to him. His “Patrick Explains X and Why It’s Great” videos are what hooked me and helped me “see the light” in regards to the Fast and Mission Impossible series. His stuff is worth checking out if you’re into film analyses of movies like this.
Id recomend everyone watch it, he does a much better than my dsylexic ramblings of why in these sort of movies critics of plot and dialouge feel like complaining about the lyrics at a rave. Its not even strictly about tenet, it just uses it as an example to talk about a genre of films. 1 hour for improved media literacy is a good deal
Yea it's not exclusively about Tenet but movies of a similar nature. Not the best introduction but it's a take I share with him.
Comparing Miami Vice to Tenet is a pretty big stretch. Tenet, like Inception or Interstellar, is a pretty traditional film with a twist. He is also factually wrong; the two romances in Miami Vice are central to the movie and the characters.
This comment is factually wrong, the video does not claim that about miami vice. It contrasts the focus of miami vice to heat as its steps away from taking time to create realistic relatable relationships. later he claims in these type of movies romances are usually doomed and that they focus on a stable parter buddy relationship MV got the same critical treament when it was released, complaints of character and plot, later revised as very cool to watch.
You know, there is probably something there to say about going back for this movie… but as someone who thought it was fine, why?
I never got to see Tenet in the theater (so I never saw it). I’m one of the few people happy about this!
I remember driving a state over to see this in IMAX during its original run. Whatever might be said about the plot, dialog volume, etc, the sheer spectacle is absolutely worth it. Might go again if it comes closer to home this time...
