  1. Tom Hardy is so good in TDKR. That performance is fun.

A ton of the establishing shots TDKR are of New York and the switch is very noticeable lol

Wait, never mind, I don’t think TDKR uses any Chicago? Mixed things up a little. But, yeah, Pittsburgh & New York w/ some other places here & there.

As a Western PA person, I’m probably subconsciously biased to like some of that Pittsburgh-as-Gotham stuff, lol.

New York has too iconic of a skyline to not have it be immediately noticeable. How many people outside of the Chicago area are familiar with the Chicago skyline? It was a good city to use for aerial shots and things like that in the first two movies. It was just a weird thing to not keep consistent across all three movies.

The street-level stuff was less noticeable though, especially because a lot of the street-level scenes in TDKR were also shot in Pittsburgh. But then of course you have Heinz Field in the football stadium scene lol

Ok, enough of this, lol. Grabbed Tenet from Redbox a little bit ago, & will be throwing it on a little later. Ready to finally have a new Nolan conversation topic.

The whole scene with JGL and the bus is what sticks out for me. World Trade Center under construction is a pretty cool time capsule too.

Dunkirk might be my favorite of his, following by Prestige and Dark Knight.

I like Inception because it's dumb and entertaining, unlike Tenet which is dumb and boring as hell.

You mean you didn’t love the temporal pincer movement that totally works and makes sense and doesn’t fall apart if you put any though into it??

If you described what was happening in this scene to me, I would be hyped beyond belief (even putting aside the logic of it) but what was on screen was so unbelievably dull (other than the building part, which was dumb but at least a bit flashy). I can't believe how insanely boring the last half hour of this movie is considering everything that's happening.

Bunch of bland faceless dudes shooting at other bland faceless dudes but half of them move awkwardly in a big dusty field with some buildings. I literally forgot who they were even having a war against while it was happening.

actually now that I think about it, who were they fighting against? were there even enemy forces there, or were they just blowing shit up? I couldn't hear anything leading up to it

I honestly will watch this again with subtitles so I can try and follow the plot more or make more sense of some of it which doesn’t seem likely.

After that I really don't have strong opinions other than I like all of his movies. I don't really care for his Batman movies aside from TDK nearly as much as everyone else seems to, and would easily have Batman Begins and TDKR at the bottom of my list, even though they're both pretty solid movies. Inception is great. Dunkirk was phenomenal. Memento is killer and has seriously stood the test of time. I even really liked Insomnia, though I think the leads were both miscast despite both Pacino and Williams being absolutely phenomenal actors.

I need to rewatch it quite badly. Been easily 10 years.
