Just wild how polarizing all of his movies are. I think dunkirk is a very good movie and everything else is bad to fine as far as quality goes. But a lot of them are entertaining at the minimum.
Prestige Dunkirk Memento Dark Knight Batman Begins Insomnia Following Tenet Interstellar Inception Dark Knight Rises
more eloquent and better-educated people (as well as people who like nolan more than me) have discussed what doesn’t work about inception. i don’t like it and struggle to think of a more overrated movie of last decade. i like his other movies more lol
So after all that... This was good! I liked it! I'm pretty sure I didn't understand at least half of it but I'm excited to watch it again.
Let's give it a shot... 1. The Prestige 2. The Dark Knight 3. Inception 4. Dunkirk 5. Batman Begins 6. Interstellar 7. Memento (though I need to give it a rewatch, it's been years) 8. Insomnia 9. Tenet 10. The Dark Knight Rises Still haven't watched Following, either.
i simply cannot understand liking inception more than memento. it’s fine. it’s on me. but what a wild take.
1. The Prestige 2. The Dark Knight 3. Interstellar 4. Dunkirk 5. Tenet 6. Memento 7. Inception 8. Batman Begins 9. Insomnia 10. Following 11. The Dark Knight Rises All of these movies are at least 7/10's for me except for TDKR.
Even my least favorite of his films is still an 8/10 lol The Dark Knight and The Prestige are both 10's
I have not re-watched TDKR since hating it in the theaters, I'm very curious how I'd respond to it now.
I thought Inception was going to be more of a cerebral thriller but when it turned out to be more of a heist type vibe - I left the theater thinking it was novel but just ok, if pretty silly. It’s really only TDKR and Interstellar that I actively disliked. I was an unassuming Nolan fan before those two. Prometheus also came out somewhere around then - it was a really frustrating time at the movie theaters for a much younger more impressionable me. I was hyped for all of those.
Interstellar and Inception are both incredible. Those fluctuate between #1 and #2 for me. Tenet is probably bottom half of his filmography and still a 4.5/5
TDKR is truly one of the most unenjoyable theater experiences I've had. tried rewatching it once since and had to turn it off. maybe I'll give it another try
This is probably my third or fourth time mentioning it in this thread, but I’ve warmed up to TDKR enough that, even though I still have some big problems with the story, it’s the Nolan Batman film I have the best chance of throwing on. I like that it’s the most shamelessly comic-book-y.
