If you go back far enough in this thread, past the conversations about theater safety, etc., you'll find my thoughts on Inception. But, yeah, I was surprised last time I watch it how not-explain-y it felt, compared to what I remembered & how some people describe it. Felt super organic & casual, more like exploration than explanation. Helped that it was usually accompanied by cool visual effects & whatnot, instead of just being people talking. Hope I feel the same way about this one. On the sound mixing topic, I feel like that's often been a Nolan thing. Remember thinking a lot of dialogue got buried in TDKR. Usually excusable if it's a good score & an enjoyable ride, but definitely not my favorite thing about Nolan movies.
i agree but this goes both ways. just as many people get run out of threads bringing legitimate criticisms just bc they don’t blindly like the same movies others do lol
Criticism is absolutely fine and welcome. It’s the backhanded comments I see constantly in these threads like “imagine thinking *insert movie* is good.” That’s the shit I’m talking about.
where are those posts lol the majority have been “i like xyz more than these other movies” and people being like “you’re a fucking idiot, that movie is 10/10 perfect” which happens in all of the nolan threads and most of the other auteur threads
Look man, you’re the one getting defensive about it and your comment came across very much like you were judging someone for liking Interstellar instead of offering a criticism to the movie. I notice this all over the place, especially with large tent pole type movies. Just because you don’t see it doesn’t mean it doesn’t happen. I’m also not saying that the other side doesn’t happen either. I don’t think I’m out of line for asking for people to be decent and not be assholes.
I said my piece, I wasn’t being defensive in my initial comment. I was just pointing out something I see a lot throughout the forum.
Sorry everyone for gumming up the thread. Hope those that have been able to see the film safely enjoyed it.
Thats how I've always felt about Inception. This one kind of felt like how I've heard people describe Inception. Although I still didn't think it was that bad and the ideas are interesting enough that its engaging throughout.
'Trucks in Place' slaps Not my favourite Nolan score but it worked really well for me when it was being blasted in a theatre
I could not understand anything said in this movie and was completely lost after the first hour lol. Such a bad experience, but nice to sit in an empty theater again.
never paying for a wb movie again if christy lemire gets the virus http://christylemire.com/my-trek-to-see-tenet/
