I was working in the throes of 125 covid positive residents and had covid myself. Not too concerned. Now, if a theater completely disregards precautions and does a half ass job, that's a different story. There are safe ways to still enjoy life. I know that's a very unpopular take, so pummel me with rotten fruit and veggies if you'd like.
I completely agree. I did the research on what my local theatre is doing and feel comfortable going next Tuesday night.
You can go to a theater if you want to but please refrain from going to other crowded areas once you leave
the king's man got bumped to february of next year, meaning this movie's gonna have a clear road for over a month until... ww84, another wb tentpole
Saw this today in a relatively quiet screening in the middle of the day (I'm in Scotland and, thankfully, the number of Covid cases here has remained low and people are taking precautions seriously for the most part). This definitely ranks higher than Interstellar and TDKR for me. The ambition of the film is insane and has some of the best action sequences I've ever seen. There is one really weak plot point that is still bugging me and is something I think most people will be scratching their heads over. It doesn't detract from the overall plot but it's frustratingly one of the simpler elements of the plot that could easily have been clarified or even changed. I really hope anyone in the States excited for this film gets to see it in a cinema at some point. I forgot how insane Nolan movies sound in a cinema, let alone look.
There’s a really bad quality cam rip out there... gonna wait myself. I’m not going to a theater til there’s a vaccine, so my guess is I won’t be seeing this until there’s either a much better leak or VOD.
Luckily everything i’ve read says this needs a ton of exposition on screen so it’s almost spoiler proof. No problem waiting for VOD.
My theater had maybe 15 people. This movie is ambitious, but the plot mechanism falls apart if you think about it for too long. The visual work alone is stunning as per Nolan’s usual. Acting is great. The set pieces...you think they can’t top the one in Oslo and then they do the climax. This can be “spoiled,” so be careful, but it wouldn’t necessary make sense without explanation about said plot mechanism. For those who have seen it, Nolan’s totally teasing a sequel, right?
The underlying theme of “I hope you die” in this post really isn’t sitting well with me. I’d rather normalize doing things in a mask, which I did seeing this movie and used sanitizer, than letting conspiracy theorists (not saying you’re one) dictate public discourse on how to live life while we wait for a vaccine. Maybe this is because as an “essential” worker, I’ve never stopped commuting five days a week, interacting with people who believe the whole thing is a hoax daily at work (where I wore a mask when no one else did until it became a requirement). So life didn’t change all that much for me in the last six months besides canceled vacations. Being able to disconnect from the world in a movie theater is a blessing to my mental health in normal times, but we all know these aren’t that. If I’m able to forget 2020 for two hours by putting on a mask and following safety guidelines, please don’t try to menace me. If I ever enter and it feels unsafe, I’ll leave. That’s the beauty of Regal Unlimited. But last night I was one of fifteen people in a theater for 500. I’ve been in grocery store aisles busier than that throughout the last six months. I’m still debating whether or not replying to this is worthwhile as I’ve seen other posts in this thread unilaterally painting everyone going into a theater as a villain. But bullying was a huge problem on AP, so I’m trying for the nuanced response.
