I could easily see it being a full on trollfest of non-US people misleading people into images and text that spoils it completely.

We're basically going to have to stay off the internet entirely until a torrent gets uploaded. I doubt many American theaters will be open on September 3 lol

I will seek out spoilers right away because I have no self control and I’m so curious wtf this movie is about

  4. Warner Bros fucked this all up - either release digitally or push it back till 2021 - this tiered global release is gonna be a disaster

  5. I'm just gonna wait till it's for sale in the iTunes stores lol

Why does it seem like people want to crucify Nolan over this and blame it on him?

  14. I mean he’s one of the most powerful and influential people in film - he probably can’t change anything or take down “WB” but his silence about it all allows people to fairly or unfairly speculate

I wonder to what extent the studios support, or even possibly promote, the idea that knowing a plot point "spoils" a film. It helps to create an urgency to see the movie on the opening weekend, which is what the studios rely on and is the time where the studios get the highest percentage of the box office gross.

The least he could do is publicly state that he’s opposed to its release right now and we should wait until it’s safe to do so. As the tweet mentions, his publicist is aware of what’s being said about him and he’s still silent. And from what I’ve read, it seems he’s all about trying to get it out now just as much as WB, so once again if that’s wrong say something.

Yeahhhhhhhhh very much doubt he could say that. That's pretty much directly interfering with the studio's bottom line by essentially telling people they shouldn't go see it if the release actually does happen this time. No way they'd take kindly to that. Could probably find himself in legal trouble if he said it.

i'm sort of leaning towards this being all on wb at this point. big picture is that it's likely career suicide for him to speak out against this rollout in ways that would obviously make the studio look bad/worse, especially since wb is where he's had all his huge films. i can imagine the cast is refraining from pointing out how awful this is for similar reasons

Yeah, exactly. He likely can't say anything about it. And also yeah it's kind of funny how everyone is calling on Nolan to somehow magically force a major American corporation to not do something it believes will make it money just because he's got some clout as an artist.

I mean, are we forgetting there were plenty of people reporting things like this:

“Christopher Nolan, on the other hand, has been eager to deliver Tenet to the masses, as he wants the movie to help reopen the box office...”

“In a company conference call, Varietyreports that IMAX CEO Richard Gelfond revealed Nolan is the one urging Tenet to keep its July release date.“

Chris really would like to be coming out with the film that opens theatres,” Gelfond said, adding: “I don’t know anyone in America who is pushing harder than Chris Nolan to have the theatres open and to have his movie released in July when it’s scheduled for.”

Right but it’s still ultimately not his decision to make, whether he’s eager for it to open in July or not. He’s not in charge at WB.

I think any studio would gladly work out a deal with him if WB dropped him; in fact, I’d probably say WB needs him more than the other way around — I think they’re trying to keep him happy.

Insane they aren't delaying this until 2021 - I don't get why they somehow feel pressured to release it now. Just delay it like every other big movie is
