His writing has typically been the weakest aspect of his movies, but I like that he added a stronger emotional element to the movie as a director who's often considered cold. Love speech aside, the emotional moments of Interstellar still land for me.
It would be nice to have access to a new blockbuster film given it’s been months of nothing. If not Tenet, I wish someone else would attempt it. I get the financial reasoning it won’t happen, but a man can dream. If anything I could see one of the new Pixar’s dropping VOD. Best we’ll probably do.
Local second run dollar theater near me opened its doors last week, sad I can’t support them with attendance. Obviously no new films being screened there
A guy I met today works at a local theater and says they're only averaging about 4-8 people per showing a day now, bringing in about $400-$650 a day. Said they're just bleeding money still (while also showing classics).
It was weird cause it seemed like they were making good money selling curbside popcorn and doing drive ins but they cancelled those when they reopened.
This has to wind up on demand then. You launch overseas first and you’re just asking to get killed with pirating.
