Drove by the local theater yesterday and there was about 15 or so cars there. Got shivers just thinking of being in a theater right now/anytime soon... VoD it already.
I support VOD of this only if I magically get a boatload of cash and am finally able to build a home theater (and also buy a home first). Since that's not happening, delay it, please.
does everyone here have a really shitty TV or something? I have substantially better viewing experiences in my house than a theater and I don't have a crazy huge TV/insane sound system. Throw some headphones in, lose yourself in the movie without constantly getting distracted by assholes talking, looking at their phones, chomping loudly, walking around
I have a horrible glare from my kitchen windows (I have a north facing house). Maybe during the winter would be better when I don't have to wait until 9pm to start a movie lol.
The issue with theater viewing for me is that my bladder is the size of a corn kernel. At least 2 tinkles per film....gotta be able to pause.
I honestly have had very few of these horror story theater experiences that you all apparently have every time you go to one. With the exception of when I was living alone, every time I try to watch a movie at home it's way worse in terms of distractions. From roommates constantly asking questions or making comments or randomly hitting pause, to loud neighbors, it's always worse.
Yeah I totally get the financial reasoning for making sure this releases in theaters, but I would personally never go to the theater again if I had the option.
But then people who want to wait to see it for the first time in a theater have to dodge spoilers for a year
Yeah movie theaters are the only place I have the discipline to pay attention. I straight up refuse to take my phone out of my pocket. Also I can probably count on one hand the genuinely bad theater experiences ive had in my life. I feel bad for people who are always saying things like "theaters are terrible and full of screaming kids and teenagers who dont shut up!!"
Let's have another vote on who wants this on VOD now vs who wants it in theaters next summer. Y'know, just in case anyone changed their mind, or forgot someone else's opinion & doesn't wanna look back at... higher up on this page. Reminder that I'm personally Team "Let's Save the Spectacle of Nolan's New Movie for When Theaters are Safe Again."
I want to see it in theaters, and I'd like to see it opening night. The only way for both those things to happen is to delay until theaters are safe again. And even at that, can theaters ever be considered be safe again before there's a vaccine? I watched Interstellar yesterday, and I still adore that movie. I tried to keep the common criticisms in mind to see if they affected my viewing, but I was still in awe throughout the runtime. There's just too much to love.
