In Florida I see much more Florida Sheriff's Ranch stickers on cars then the FOP ones, which is a whole other different kind fundraising enterprise which probably deserves it's own documentary.

Think of this but add in thrift stores, Florida conservatives trying to privatize the child welfare system, and police sponsored abuse camps for troubled kids, and you got the Florida Sheriff's Ranch.

I've definitely seen cars with like 20 of those all across the back or side window.

Love a doc where a talking head just casually lights up a blunt while being interviewed.

This whole rabbithole Sam and Pat are getting into of police unions running protection for gigantic mail fraud rackets is some insane shit.

" This stuff is actually easier to play than normal rock music, you just play the same chord over and over" lol

On one hand, this has no doubt been enjoyable with some interesting/quirky characters, but then on the other hand I feel like it's trying to be a lot more wild or shocking than it really is.

A telemarketing company being a scam is pretty much a given, and the majority of these companies cannot find serviceable employees, so yeah, they're stuck with criminals and others who cannot pass background checks - but yet good at manipulating people.

I don't know, I just don't feel very shocked or in disbelief by any of what I have seen thus far.

I agree to an extent. I was pretty surprised that it was the police union's idea for the telemarketers to lie about who they work for

Yeah as someone who's gotten those police union calls I think I was immediately like this is sketch haha

Yeah, a lot of reviews criticized the length and I feel like I definitely felt it in this episode.

If anything the surprise for me was them actually being hired by the police, I thought part of the scam was that they had no actual police affiliation (like, there was no organization called the "New Jersey FOP" and the real org was called "FOP of New Jersey" or something, like the Make a Wish knockoff they mentioned)

Also I don't really find it engaging watching them call charities (presumably just their public phone numbers) or go up to random cops expecting them to know intimate details about a ten year old contract.

The guy filming also rubbed me the wrong way a little, he seemed a little mocking when Pat was thinking he was being followed

I have literally worked in multiple places like this. Nothing here shocks me at all, I am more enjoying it because I am relating to it. The only good part of working at these places was the characters.

I am also invested in the FOP scam stuff and how these two random dirtbags uncovered that the largest police unions in the cointry were essentially running protection of highly organized mail fraud schemes.

I love this, but agree that they're playing up the shock value a bit.

To me the guys doing heroin at their desks and no one caring was probably the most shocking, but even that didn't surprise me considering the things I've seen at various workplaces

I do feel though they are going for kind of a Tiger King thing where "wow these people are wild as hell!!" becomes more of a focus than the supposed important larger story they're trying to tell.

Enjoyed the first episode, but started to get bored towards the end of episode 2. Just kinda seemed repetitive after awhile.

I don’t find this shocking, but it’s a good watch and I absolutely love how DIY it is.

I enjoyed it. As everyone else said, Pat rules. Hope he’s doing well. I had fun just watching them kind of stumble their way through it all, even if there’s not really any payoff. First episode was the best just for how insane that office was

  23. I was surprised there was zero payoff and it just ended to be honest lol.
