I think the general gist is having jade see the good in him + seeing how awful Rupert is to his wives is telling him he’s on the wrong path.
I've read it but don't really see what the connection is lol (and it was framed way too much in the center of the shot to not be relevant lol)
No thematic or narrative connection immediately comes to mind, but I feel like the weirdness of the book confirms her own weirdness lol also not criticizing the book bc I really do love it
I mean, I think Nate's whole arc is basically set up at this point.... He needs the feeling of family and friendship to go along with his success, and that's not there at west ham. The whole attempt to set up the diamond dogs, the feeling of pride of a drink with a boss, and his attempt to meet Ted at the bus after the game were all showing that yeah, he wanted to win and be respected, but he also wants the family connection. However, I don't get his relationship with Jade. No idea why she suddenly warmed up to him and we know nothing about her. As far as fleshed out characters go, she's pretty bad so far.
Nate’s arc is mostly fine with me until I remember him leaking Ted’s mental health issues to the press which is pretty unforgivable imo
And like, none of his arc shows any remorse for it. It’s all just “oh this sucks more” Like he maliciously contacted Trent Crimm to leak that because he wanted more “credit.” Nothing about his redemption arc has shown me he feels bad for that one bit.
Exactly how I feel. I wish she got a percentage of development that they devoted to Jack, Zava or Shandy. Like, what made her attracted to Nate in the first place? Does she understand his family dynamics from the time they were in the restaurant?
I don’t really really feel the need to be “shown” Nate’s remorse for the press thing because it’s just so obviously there. He clearly still cares a great deal for Ted and hasn’t faced the music yet because he knows he did a really fucked up thing
I really don't buy "it's so obviously there." For every knowing glance of sadness, we've also been shown him in a room full of people ripping on ted left and right. It's still going on. FOR NO REASON. Fuck his remorse.
He’s doubling down because the praise he gets for being an asshole is helping numb the guilt he feels for impulsively stabbing Ted and the rest of Richmond in the back. Over time he’s realizing that getting the recognition he thought he deserved was not worth sacrificing a loving support system. Dating Jade is his first glimpse of getting that back and turning down the opportunity to cheat on her by using his status as the Wonder Kid (as introduced by Rupert) is the start of us being shown that he won’t let it slip through his fingers again
Looked for a transcipt/video from today and also found Coach Beard on his show a month ago also making it sound like it's not done... And today's epsiode with Jason...
I just don't understand. Y'all are thinking way too much justification is needed. He was deep in the Ted Lasso Way and just didn't buy in. Now he's on the outside with the Rupert Way and faking it just like he felt he has to do at times with Richmond #TeamNate
Also it's definitely not the end because they only referred to it being the end before filming and no one has mentioned it ending since. It's Apple's first 'this could be considered all-time great TV' show and I'm sure they'll put out the whole dog and pony show for its ending
