Yeah, this show continues to fire on all cylinders. Ted's speech at the end was amazing, and exactly what the team needed.

Roy’s rant about bullies is so unhinged/incredible

Eh, I feel like she sees through his bullshit and will be part of his arc to bring him back down to earth.

I thought the hostess was racist based on her behavior towards Nate's family last season, but now she's buddy-buddy with him?

    Which makes her scum.

Seems like the meanness from Nate is just gone entirely this season

Another great one. Loved the Roy bullying rant and Ted's speech.

I wouldn’t say that. He’s still mean to his players. He ridiculed and trashed Richmond in the press. He blew off Ted in person. He’s still an evil, insignificant fraction of a human.

I am probably in the minority here, but I think this season has just been...fine?

For me, personally, it's suffering with the longer run-times. I find myself, a lot, pausing to see how much time is left. When it is good, it has been great, but there seems to be a lot more filler and uninteresting side-plots.

I've been positive until the last episode, it felt like a nonstop, "well yeah obviously that was gonna happen" between Keely/Jack, Ted's son's being the bully (which I assume is the start of Ted deciding he needs to move back home).

And I know this is unpopular but all I could think of in Roy's bullying speech is that he's been flanderized to shit

He didn't blow Ted off though, he was clearly trying to apologize. Every scene he's on this season, apart from the practice scene in episode 1, makes it seem like he's no longer the bitter, spiteful person he was before. Which I have mixed feelings about how that squares with where they left him last season

He definitely did lol. He was trying to apologize and then Rupert showed up and it was back to bitter Nate putting on a show. And then the overblown celebration and not shaking Ted’s hand which caught the press’ attention. And then again with the way he absolutely trashed them in the media. And again in the OBSESSION about beating Ted which is what showing him strategizing in his crappy apartment was about.

He def feels guilty and a part of him wishes it was different. But he is not just over it. He’s way too lost in the weeds for that.

If anything, I think the swiftness with which Nate has returned to sympathetic is too quick. He’s clearly trying to be good now, which makes sense as an arc but I didn’t expect to happen so explicitly in the first half of the season. Team Fuck Nate is living in the past.

I wasn’t crazy about this episode, but I’m interested to see where the team part of the story goes from here. 7 episodes to go and they’re already pretty much statistically eliminated from winning it all which is nice for realism but surprising from a plot perspective.

I don't think they win it all again and that's why Ted leaves and Nate takes back over. Everyone wins.

If Zava really is done that was weird to bring him in for a few episodes.

He wasn't a big guest star and his arc served a purpose (or seemingly will serve a purpose). Though who knows, he may end up at West Ham. I think I'd be fine if he simply served as a motivational tool for Jamie.

Some interesting perspectives about Nate in here... To me, he's always had a chip on his shoulder and felt like he deserved more credit/attention than he got and now he's getting it, he's having second thoughts because it's not as fulfilling as advertised. Sure, he got a date with the model, but he wanted it to be at a low key family spot and she blew him off because it wasn't classy enough. He wanted to apologize to Ted but got sidetracked and then had no remorse during the game. It wasn't until after during the interview that he was reminded he was being a bit of a bellend but he obviously didn't reach out since.

I don't know... it's all feels perfectly reasonable and conflicting. He wants to win, he wants respect for winning and he thinks he wants the nice things that are given to you when you have respect and money.

I also don't get the hate for the hostess/waitress. I definitely never saw her come across as racist. Just cold and condescending but that could be the whole industry turning you into someone who sees customers as cash cows and she didn't see him as one.

The hostess was a dick to Nate for no reason in their previous interactions. But she did give us Jason Jelly

She sucked then for being mean to Nate, but she sucks even more now for being nice to him.

I could see the season ending with Richmond beating West Ham in the final and Rupert goes ballistic, fires Nate and then their big make up is Ted going back to America and Nate taking over.

This episode was too long and kitschy/cliche at times. Feel like I’m only invested in Ted and Nate’s arc at this point. The Keely thing was so forced and seems out of character. They already had a more natural LGBTQ storyline r that’s unresolved and feel this minimizes that. Rebecca’s story is just dragging. I’d rather see Roy take over than Nate but feel Nate taking over will likely happen.

I like most of what’s happening. But I think the Rebecca stuff sucks and just feels like padding. But I think her subplots have been pretty pointless past season one.
