100%, love how that whole episode perfectly encapsulates the Roy Kent experience

Rewatching Beard After Hours tonight and the "Harry Gill is in this pub!" line/whole scene is probably my favorite moment in the entire series

Yeah his reasoning was not justified at all. I really did not get the impression that Ted made him feel like the most important person in the world and then ditched him or whatever he said, Ted was very respectful of him and his opinion the whole season, even if he didn't always use his ideas, which is his right as the head coach

I think his reasoning made sense from his perspective but he was still being a dumb, selfish asshole.

  8. There were definitely scenes Ted excluded or pushed Nate to the side. Not purposely or anything but those scenes are in there.

Nate is and has always been a little unbalanced. Someone posted a great video of all the things in season 1 that showed Nate's true character and how it foreshadows his turn. Add that to his home life and never getting the approval of his father.

Maybe it happens too quick just because it's a 10 episode season but it's not surprising when you go back and think about it.

    Not here. Isn't happening. Supporter

He just got a huge promotion from equipment manager to assistant coach and they were using his schemes in the matches. It was a ridiculous heel turn. But who cares really the whole premise of the show is unrealistic.

The very first moment the whole Nate thing started is when Roy came onto the pitch accepting the coaching job. They make a point of showing his concern, he was not happy about it. And later, when they win a game because of Roy, Ted kind of skips Nate and goes straight for the hug with Roy. It's like Nate didn't want to share his dad and there was a new baby in the house.

  11. Disagree that it's a ridiculous heel turn but won't argue if it was too abrupt or not. In watching it the first time I probably agreed but when reading about it after the fact it made sense.

Kind of highlights how the biggest issue for season 2 for me was how much time they tried to compress into essentially 10 episodes. (Nothing against the Xmas or Beard eps but they are self admittedly add ons and not really a furtherance of any story.)

I thought there was great stuff this season and I bought Nate’s turn more than I didn’t, but even 2 or 3 more episodes would have made a huge difference in selling the more serious/pessimistic plot lines they focused on this season.

My wife and I just started this show finally this week (after caving and also finally signing up for Apple TV+) and…yeah, wow. So I had no idea that they addressed panic attacks in this show until watching this week. I have had panic attacks since I was 12 and the moment the music went quiet in the karaoke scene and the camera panned down to Ted’s hands shaking into that all too familiar vice grip (I always described it as a “lobster claw” when I was younger), I got so quiet and my wife immediately knew what was happening as well. It’s a scary thing to witness and she asked me if I was okay. It meant so much to me to see Rebecca comforting Ted outside in the alley like that. My wife has done exactly that for me and her name just happens to be Rebekah. I don’t know, like you said, I don’t think I’ve ever seen it portrayed so accurately (though there’s a scene with Anna in Pen15 season 2 that comes close).

"I am the patron saint of lost causes"

Looks like the series is ending with season 3 (at least according to Brendan Hunt):

UP CLOSE: Ted Lasso's Coach Beard opens up on Richmond, pubs and football

    "
The last question in the interview:

We totally understand you don't want to give any secrets away from Series Three BUT can you give us a couple of teasers about what's in store? Any big shocks? And when will get to see it? And what was happening in Amsterdam? And is this the last series……

That is a tough question but I can say this will be the last series. It was always intended to be a three series show. There are lots of stories to unravel and settle one way or another in Series Three but when it does end all I can say is that we will take great care in landing the plane in a proper and loving way."

I'm actually happy that they're not going to try to drag it on. I'd heard that it was intended as a three season show but I had a feeling that they would try to stretch it more once it became the runaway hit that it did

Still think 4 would be better. Season 3 will tie things up nicely I’m sure but so far doesmt really feel like a 3 act show.

I do think there is a logical end where Ted returns home to be with his son. I'm picturing a Scrubs-esque finale (spoilers I guess?) where he does like a victory lap and says goodbye to everyone before getting on a plane back to the states.

The show has been semi-realistic (at least in who would win in the Premier League) so I would be shocked if they take Richmond all the way, but they will avoid relegation this time. I think something will happen where Nate and Ted reconcile and Ted leaves the club in Roy's hands or something like that. Some logical end to Ted's arc.

my guess is he definitely leaves to return home to his son and hands the team over the Beard, with Roy remaining an assistant, and Nate will reconcile with everyone and re-join Richmond. Looking forward to see how they tie up all the B-storylines.
