If West Ham and AFC are the final two, what the fuck happened to the rest of the league lol. Unless West Ham are just playing spoiler, I guess?
Lol I know it’s a show but if afc Richmond and west ham are top of the table or playing in the fa cup final something has gone completely wrong
I honestly hope it ends at Season 3, even though I’d miss these characters. I’m fine with a spin off after that but really feel Teds story will be tied up by next season. Guessing we get a love interest next season for Ted, the Nate/Ted conflict, Roy/Keeley will they or won’t they, and some other closure. Also some soccer.
Yea I agree that he will likely head home and I can see Roy taking over or maybe Nate returning (hope not).
I wouldn’t mind if they did three seasons and maybe some specials, like “Mythic Quest” with its quarantine special.
I respect the shit out of the tell the story you want to tell and quit while ahead move, but Ted's son is really the only thread that feels like resolving will end the show but simultaneously can't go much longer. In terms of the show in general, I think they could do two more seasons without driving it into the ground. I'm fine with 3, but I won't be worried if they announce at some point in the next 6 months that there will actually be a 4th season. Though tbh I kind of just hope/wish season 3 is a bit longer. You could really feel the compression of the original 10 episode order in the first half of the season, and the 2 bonus episodes, while nice, didn't do anything to help the disjointedness that I think partially stemmed from how fast time moved from episode to episode.
I know next season they were ordered 12 episodes. I think season 2 was written as 10 episodes thinking it was going to be the same and then they had to figure out two more episodes. They did great with how they worked around that. That Beard episode was fantastic and I cannot wait to watch the Christmas one around Christmas. If this does end up only being 3 seasons, it’s going to have multiple rewatches a year from me.
this isn’t totally related to your point but one of the biggest surprises for me about this show, thinking back to my thoughts at the very first episodes, was how ted’s development as a coach is a complete non-story. Obviously show’s ask us to stretch our imaginations a bit, and the soccer is largely secondary, but ted’s seemingly still as clueless about the game after 2 seasons as he was going in and it’s weird that that’s not at least a small part of his character arc. also gimme 4-5 seasons. 3 seasons may be nice and succinct but I’m feeling greedy. Additional thought: strange that Trent Crimm wrote that article seemingly out of a sense of journalistic duty but was a-ok with being fired for breaking with journalistic duty. Seems he could’ve just not written it. May have chosen to do so so it could have been more charitable to Ted, but we don’t really have any indication of that. Secondly, aside from the public shame at the start of the episode, the article’s release seemed to ultimately be more consequential in driving the Nate v Ted story more than affecting Ted professionally. Wonder if that will drive season 3 alongside Nate’s redemption.
I was close to the edge with Nate after his conversation with Ted but when I saw that he tore up the Believe sign I wanted blood.
they really went in super hard on making Nate this ultra unlikeable douchey guy, it almost at points felt like they were trying a little too hard to make you hate him but, he's definitely gonna be the villain next season so, i guess they had to go all in, cant risk people still wanting to like or sympathize with him. but yeah, if there was any doubt remaining in people, the torn up sign certainly did it.
after how huge this show has gotten, i'm gonna wager good money there is at least a 4th season, but as long as everything can be wrapped up nicely, i wouldnt be upset if it ended after 3. my guess is that sometime mid-next season it's going to come out that Rupert never really believed in Nate's ability as a coach, he just wanted to stick it to Rebecca and steal one of their guys, and Nate will realize he had everything so much better with Ted/Richmond and he will quit before a huge game or something, apologize and come crawling back to Ted, he will ask if he can be a diamond dog again, they will howl and woof, and he will be back on the sideline for Richmond during a match against Rupert's team that has large/championship implications, and Richmond will win.
then maybe Ted leaves the team to Nate, Beard, and Roy, and Ted goes home to his son, maybe he and his wife reconcile. Beard also marries Jane in the series finale.
