I think maybe Ted has to make a tough call and flies back to America for an emergency, putting the game squarely on Nate's shoulders. They either win or lose, but Nate being responsible is reason enough to leave
Prediction is Ted has Nate coach the game and they lose and he gets all of the credit for the failure and doesn’t know how to handle it. He doesn’t realize getting credit is a double edged sword. Maybe Nate ends up having a panic attack…
y’all keep posting like ted is some petty guy. everything the show has shown us proves that is not the case
Yeah Ted is gonna confront Nate about it directly he’s not gonna be petty. He also doesn’t quit so I don’t see him not showing up for the game out of pettiness or to set Nate up to fail. If something happens to his son he’d leave, but not to get back at Nate.
I have to imagine Rupert plays a role in the finale. They showed Nate talking to Rupert at the funeral for a reason. Maybe he is the one whispering in Nate's ear that he deserves more and stoking his ego.
The finale picks up with Ted murdering Nate, he spends the rest of the episode trying to cover his crime, but he’s arrested in the final minute. The third and final season of the show is The Trial of Ted Lasso.
