Yep. If he was up to all this shit before he became coach I’d get all of the outright hate, but it’s pretty obvious Ted put him on without knowing he wasn’t equipped to handle it. Until the show writes in a chance at redemption I don’t know how anyone can expect him to get better, dude just needs help. Makes me more sad than angry by a lot Kissing someone out of nowhere like that ain’t it though
I highly doubt with sam richardson's character talking up so much how he wanted to do this for Africa and how he's a billionaire in his own right that he needs/is asking for rupert's help
I don't want a redemption arc for Nate. Dude was the lowest person on the organization chart and was given an opportunity because Ted saw/sees something in him. What does he do with it? Treat the new lowest person like shit, use his position to bully the players that messed with him, and backstab the person that gave him a shot. Fuck Nate, no redemption arc and no amount of "help" changes that he's a shitty self-serving and self-obsessed person
...but why not? Shouldn't rehabilitation be a possibility for everyone? It's very clear that Nate's narcissism is rooted in deep-seated insecurities and a lifelong inferiority complex, entangled with A LOT of toxic masculinity (which I'm sure is typical AF in professional sports). Throw in that Nate is a minority not often seen in managerial roles and little family support. Whether he "deserves" a redemption arc or not, I HOPE the show is going to at least address those things...
Yeah I’m just not that cynical I guess. This show is pretty clearly capable of handling its characters with care, I look forward to seeing how it brings Nate to terms with himself & the things he’s done. This show has built up enough good faith to trust in a meaningful resolve
It is entirely possible that sports journalism operates much differently, but in any other field, a journalist of his caliber (working at a legacy paper) burning a source like that is pretty extreme. Of course, the Ted Lasso world is an idealized world. So maybe we shouldn't be thinking too hard about it.
Nate's obsessed with getting credit for successes but he doesn't understand you also get the blame for the failures and he doesn't have the ability to handle that at this time
I love Trent "We journalists have integrity so I HAVE TO write this, also I'll give up my source immediately." I was going to wait until the season was over to start so I can binge at my own pace, but got bored yesterday and ended up watching all 11 episodes now I gotta wait for the finale like all you normal dorks. Really enjoying the season. Curious what Rupert whispered to Nate at the funeral, and yeah fuck Nate.
I can’t believe it’s the end this week. When they announced the dates I was pumped it would last until October. Now here we are. Anyone have finale predictions? - Roy proposes to Keeley - Nate announces he’s leaving to coach a different team after the team wins the game - Ted lets Nate leave without saying much…probably leading to next seasons main arc - Thinking there may be a conflict of Ted wanting to return to the states after seeing his son or something of the like - Not sure on the Sam situation…I’m betting he stays but Rebecca still ends it
I think it's pretty obvious Roy and the teacher are gona be a thing and Keeley getting back together with Jamie Tartt
