Considered going for the 8 Pro but I guess I'll upgrade from my 5A to the 8. Really wish they had the 8 was slightly bigger, the Pro is probably too big for my baby hands
I'm liking the 8. Not liking the trade in values tho.... I may wait for Black Friday to see if they do any other deals cuz I remember getting last year's 7 for $100 with trade in and deals. T-Mobile was taking way too long to gimme 14 so i sideloaded it. Haven't played around with it yet BUT THEY FIXED THE GAPS BETWEEN ICONS IN THE BUBBLES. Remember some monthly update made the icons so far apart and made the bubbles have so much empty space? NOT ANY MORE. Back to looking nice.
Man, when I first got my Pixel, I thought I'd miss Samsung too much. But I just pulled out my S21, and it's EGREGIOUS how laggy and unresponsive the gesture navigation is on it. I didn't realize it when I used it as my daily driver because I never tried gestures out until my Pixel. But on Samsung, it's hard to even swipe between apps by flicking left and right on the bottom of the screen. Same experience with my Galaxy Tab S8 which is even newer. Crazy that a 90hz phone can feel smoother than 120hz.
I have a 5a and 4a 5G on hand to compare it. It's noticeably smaller than a 5a and slightly narrower than the 4a
Welp my 5a woke up this morning and decided to just brick itself....so I'm now the proud owner of a 7a. The guy at Best Buy actually offered to sell me the 8 and it seemed like it would have gone through, but I was concerned about my Google Account so decided not to risk anything
My fiance got a google rewards survey asking her if she would use a google product if it ran iOS and then asked her a buncha questions on her thoughts about android, why she prefers ios, etc. WEIIIRD. And then they gave her no money after when google rewards usually always does!
Got Android 14! Not noticing any huge changes other than lock screen clockfaces and a new icon when swiping "back" for gestures haha. But I've heard some reports of improved battery which would be great. Definitely gonna keep an eye on that. Finger print scanner also seems more accurate, but could be a placebo effect
Been awake for 6 hours, still at 90% battery. Not bad, but also have been pretty busy at work so I haven't really used my phone much today.
Got my Pixel 8 in today and man I'm glad I didn't decide to stick with the 7a. It's just so damn boxy and square lol, sharp corners are a dumb phone idea. Also got the Pixel Buds Pro (Google Fi deal for the 8 + Amazon sale on the buds was cheaper than the Google store deal) and kinda ambivalent coming from the Sony WMX3's, the bundled ear tips don't fit me super great. But on Android 14 (I only had it for a day or two on my 5a and didn't seem to notice as much difference...) some of the bounciness to the UX is jarring. Feels kinda iOSy (with the caveat I've never owned or used an iOS device for more than 5 minutes)
The only bug I've found with Android 14 is that every now and then when I open an app, I just get a blank screen with just my wallpaper showing. Then I have to go back home and reopen the app. Annoying. Not sure if Novalauncher just isn't optimized well for it yet
That could be it, I used to use custom launchers but honestly haven't even thought about it in years BUT FINALLY A DECENT ALTERNATE CLOCK ON THE LOCK SCREEN This wallpaper is also made with the AI Wallpaper generator, this is honestly one of my dream phone features lol because I just want weird abstract images for my wallpapers. A little more limited in versatility than I thought it would be
I can't stop using custom launchers until Google finally lets us hide icon labels on the home screen . All that text makes things look so busy and cluttered to me That's a sick lock screen, I have no idea how you got the weather and date on the sides like that
man I remember spending so much time messing with launchers on my S3 lol. I rooted so many phones, for sure bricked one at some point. Different times
Ahaha yep same. I also totally fried the antennae in my Droid Incredible trying to replace the screen I smashed. On the bright side, the new screen did work
