Oh yeah I'm not super concerned about it. But I don't think I love taylor as much as some others so I'm just kanye shrug about it in general lol
This thread is making me re-listen to old Kelly Clarkson and damn I forgot how great some of these songs are.
So, I just learned about the whole Taylor Swift is a snake meme and I'm sitting here dying laughing at some of these.
Can someone give me the 411 scoop on this juicy gossip drama. all I know is she acted like she didn't know about the song, but apparently had a phone call, but was all of it told to her? like that she was the subject of "I made that bitch famous?"
Short version: everyone who has ever had a "beef" with Taylor knows they can use her name to grab headlines, KimYe included (and Katy Perry, for that matter - 99% of the time when the ~beef~ gets revived, it was one of her would-be adversaries bringing it up. She usually refuses to discuss it outside of her music). Kim released a snapchat video of Taylor allegedly agreeing to the lyrics in Famous (which were gross, whether she approved them or not imho, although still not nearly as bad as his comments about Cosby/Amber Rose the month before but I digress) after Taylor spoke out against them once the song was out. I say allegedly because the video has cuts and you don't hear her approving the exact line that got used (where he called her "that bitch", which would likely matter to someone who is as obsessed with narrative control as Taylor.) Pretty much everything else is conjecture, but the fact is literally everybody involved was being petty and extra and messy. Edit to answer your specific question: We do not and never will know if she was told all of it or what context/framing was given. The video doesn't establish that. There are pretty thorough timelines on the good old Google if you want more. Taylor embracing the snake narrative makes perfect sense to anyone who has followed her career or her patterns. As long as the music feels authentic - which, to me, has ALWAYS been what sets her catalog apart from the vast majority of pop artists - I don't really care about what font she uses. We'll see what happens.
"Walk Away," "You Found Me," "Beautiful Disaster" - All great. But yeah, those other songs are filler.
Taylor acted brand new about Famous when she knew the whole time. She made a whole feminist speech at the Grammy's about not letting a man take credit for your success, acting as if she did not approve or know about that line in the song when she did. She even told kanye they'd laugh about it when the press tried to create a feud around the song. Tbh I think she takes advantage of some anti-black sentiments for her benefit and it makes me uncomfortable. Basically now she says she is upset about the "bitch" part which I believe she is and that was not discussed on the snaps.
I saw some image earlier (can't find it now) that listed all the release times in various timezones. 11pm CST it said.
I think ur just talking about the kanye katy feud junk but imma springboard off this lol (so its totally not directed at you)and say I often hear people say taylor never talks about others outside of music but man. She may not name them literally but it honestly may as well be cause she tells you enough so you know without naming them. She talked about how Joe broke up with her on Ellen, she posted a video playing with a Joe Jonas doll commenting about the breakup, she talked about the letter her ex sent her around the Red era I think, she talked about Katy in the interview which let people know the song was about her, she showed the VMA interruption incident on the screen before performing Innocent at the next years VMA (which may count as music but it wasn't all lyrically), she authorized a "source" to talk to a magazine about her relationship with harry, for a while she was using tumblr likes to comment on things, like..... She does it all the time? Idk if people differentiate it because she doesn't always name them literally but when she gives enough info to easily know I feel like it should count. I feel like among stans she has a rep for taking the ~high road by only going after people in songs but its not even true like remotely. But I guess stans gonna Stan. Anyway that is my soapbox today lol.
I'm sure I'm gonna be absolutely rocking to this jam in a few hours, but first impression is that it kind of seems like... a regression? I guess I felt the same way about Shake it Off tho (and We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together), so maybe that's just her first single strategy.
