Not really liking the vocals from either of them tbh, they both don't really fit the production or each other very well. Meh.
Wish the production would get a little "huger" as the song goes on too, it stays too one-note throughout for me. Not feeling this one.
Woah ohs sound like Nate Ruess. Overall dig the song but could do without Taylor going breathy or Zayn in general. Edit: I know he just put out a new album and had a big single on the last 50 Shades soundtrack, but man I wish The Weeknd was on this instead of Zayn.
So glad her and Jack are continuing to do some more work together.. I want him to be the Max Martin of the next record haha (sorry, though his work is quite obviously gold as well)
This is really beyond terrible. I listened because Jake's tweets got me curious, but neither of their vocals work together at all. And that falsetto from Zayn sounds really painful
Just wanted to chime in and say that as a reader, I don't like Fifty Shades. And to think there was a time Twilight seemed like the big bad of literature... I guess that I'm in a minority here that doesn't care for Jack Antonoff (from what I've heard, in any case)? From fun. and his songs with Taylor, they always seem to lack cohesion or come together in any way. They sound choppy in an unintentional way and even though there are great moments, I can never thoroughly enjoy anything of his I have listened to. Edit: I guess he's the guitarist of fun.? Their songwriting in general (particularly the last album they released) feels that way to me. I have no idea how involved he is with it. I don't like Todd in the Shadows all that much, but his review for "We Are Young" was spot-on.
I suggest you listen to his solo project Bleachers and report back. He also co-wrote "Brave" by Sara Bareilles which is an incredibly written song IMO.
uh oh, I'm busted! I never got into the ballads on the album honestly, I'm not huge on solely lyrically-driven songs with little musical excitement, I feel like a lot of these songs don't do much musically.
I can see skipping The Last Time and Sad Beautiful Tragic and maybe Treacherous but yeah idk what the fuck anyone's doing skipping All Too Well and I Almost Do.
All Too Well grew on me, I do like that one now at least. But the rest..... ESPECIALLY The Last Time, probably the worst Swift song I have ever heard
I'll give you The Last Time because I'm one of like 10 people on Earth that likes that song but that's the only one. Treacherous had to grow on me but once it did... those four songs are examples of the kind of lyrical mastery where Swift captures a very specific facet of a very specific emotion in a way that few people are able to do and in my humble opinion they're a key part of what makes Red such a great album. Serious character development for her as a songwriter.
All Too Well is hands down her best song in every aspect imo. Also I've finally spent some decent time with Speak Now and I'm so in love with Mine and Enchanted.
