i mean yeah obviously anyones allowed to cover anything they want that doesnt make them free from the scrutiny and criticism that'll come along with it
I suppose what I'm getting at is that no artist (or person) should be judged solely on the color of his or her akin or what they're packing under the belt. I feel like that in and of itself is kind of prejudiced in a backwards way. With certain contexts, I could see (the "Strange Fruit" example another poster provided), but pop songs like those on 1984 (an album that I love)? I don't see any issue with it or why gender or race should matter. I think the so gs were written for the widest audience possible, and it only makes sense for there to be a diverse cast of cover artists as well.
Happy 2nd birthday to 1989. Two years ago today was almost exactly 10 months after I left my abuser of 2.5 years. I listened to the album from start to finish in the dark and cried after "Clean" ended for a solid 25 minutes until I finally fell asleep. I am thankful for 1989.
I'm glad you have an album that helped you through that! it's invaluable to have that connection when you're going through something so awful. mine was Stripped and it will always be THE album to me for that reason. I hope you're doing good now bb!
I have little interest in who Taylor dates tbhhhhhhhhh. Drake and her would be cool if it was real and they loved each other.
