i mean the two things that's apparently stayed consistent is that the call doesn't specifically mention the line "that bitch" and that she didn't hear the full song until it was released. while it may not be weird that the phone call was recorded, it still is a private and personal call that was released to the public without taylor knowing until everyone else did - like the song. correct me if i'm wrong on either though. much like everyone else, i have problems with both of them for the reasons mentioned regardless. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Also, I never EVER like the hashtags that end in "party" because it's always a bunch of kids posting gifs and sounding edgy, and remember when this happened to Halsey? The Haters Have Chased Halsey Off Of Twitter It's really horrible.
It's en-masse bullying and the ferocious glee with which Twitter turns on female celebrities for relatively minor infractions has never failed to horrify me. Halsey has been a great example of that over and over again.
idk much about Halsey but when I found out she was an old Harry Styles stan who wrote a song about him and Taylor I accepted her into the fold like
dang tonight is like The Purge celebs social media edition! Like I know ppl do that everyday lol but it feels especially bloodthirsty tonight!
The line is still gross anyway. I dunno. I feel like the feud doesn't negate what the line says no matter how it's spun.
I completely get her wanting to defend her friend and she's not wrong. This whole thing is petty and inconsequential and has been rehashed way too many times since 2009, and the greatest gift in the world would be if everyone involved would stop using it for press bumps. But in the great scheme of things... nobody who loves Taylor's music is going to stop listening to her over this. And the people who hated her before will still hate her now. Ditto for Kimye. However, I get why people would be frustrated by this being the thing that gets Selena to speak up. Does hypocrisy make a statement inherently wrong? Nah. But it certainly makes it harder to stomach. It matters who says things and why they're saying them.
i had to search just to see if selena has done anything. i have too much time right now... Paul McCartney, Selena Gomez, Pearl Jam Demand Gun Control Reform from Congress Selena Gomez: Charity Work & Causes - Look to the Stars Selena Gomez Will Perform in North Carolina & Donate Proceeds to Charity
This whole thing is so interesting - given that I didn't bother to research before replying either, I'm not shocked that Twitter didn't.
I didn't rewatch this until now and it slays me every time. Most ppl would assume she's saying "It's so crazy that all of this is happening while Lauren is away..." about some silly drama going down NOT A PARTICLE ACCELERATOR
It's only common knowledge if you're actively thinking about it, I'd guess. People put more stock in social media than actual action (not a judgment, social media is just immediately more obvious), especially when they want to be angry at someone (like with Swift).
Khloe K going after Chloe M rubs me the wrong way. She's 30something going after a 19 year old. I guess CM used hole instead of whole and KK posted a pic the paparazzi got where she had a bathing suit malfunction. I'm probably being stupid.
No, that tweet was really, really gross. And this whole thing started because of someone in their 30's going after a 19 year old so I guess it's full circle.
As a huge fan of both artists' music, this doesn't really affect me despite of the entertainment all this drama provides. But yeah, Taylor Swift's honesty is not a hill anyone should choose to die on, it's not like Katy hasn't warned us.
I've seen people use both Katy Perry and John Mayer as examples of people who have "warned us", and I'm just gonna say once that holding up either of those two as character witnesses isn't a hill I'M willing to die on. Or even linger on briefly.
I'm not aware of what Katy Perry has done for her judgement to be called into question. and no one even mentioned John Mayer.
