I think in the case of every fandom, people who are happy to purchase things will purchase them, and people who don’t want to purchase them won’t

 

I think we all know this isn’t going to happen. I wouldn’t even be surprised if the whole album gets a physical release with new variants with more exclusive tracks for each one

 

I feel like I don't feel bad for the obsessive fans who are going to buy every single variant every time she drops a new one. I said this before, it's weird to treat them as victims being exploited. There is a very easy way in which every fan can hear every song without being charged more for the extra songs.

 

Don't give her ideas.

 

Yeah - they clearly have Stockholm Syndrome at this point.

Beyonce also just released vinyl that was unexpectedly missing songs.

 

Draw your own lines, but that line being "artist releases too many things for their fans" is wild

She isn't releasing it for her fans though. She's releasing it to make money & juice numbers because she knows a significant portion of her fanbase will buy anything & everything she puts out.

 

A 5 star restaurant is not cooking up steak for love of the game, they're doing it because people who want to eat the steak will buy it.


This album is more Chipotle, I guess, for sake of the metaphore

 

You can argue this for literally every other major artist who has multiple variants

 

I think releasing album 2 as a stand alone vinyl is the most plausible options. Otherwise it would be a 4xLP, which just seems like a heavy lift for production purposes, especially given the 1 million copies of the first album that just got pressed.

 

What pains me the most is Swifties having to research Dylan Thomas, Patti Smith, and the Chelsea Hotel.

Ummm some of us already know who those are because of Phoebe Bridgers! See we can be cultured!

 

especially since she included a 24 page booklet right in the middle of the gatefold. if she adds more pages for the other 15 songs - in addition to two extra LPs - there's a nonzero chance those discs are gonna be incredibly warped. it's already bad enough she packed 4 discs in a slightly wider gatefold for Red TV. even if she separated the booklet from the gatefold, that's still a lot to pack in a single album package. i had to pull out an extra large sleeve for this thing in its base form. she'd probably have to do a boxset - similar to what Beyoncé did for Renaissance - to not damage everything.

 

See, she should have included an Elliot Smith reference to really help everyone.
