How are we to almost 20 pages for an album that none of us have heard?

Yeah, the building blocks are there, but it doesn't quite land. Could've used another pass or two.

I kind of feel that way about a bunch of stuff on Lover in retrospect. A lot of it feels just a tad disingenuous to me. I have always felt that way about "I Forgot That You Existed," like the starting point for that song was "social media will love this one!"

I actually agree, I never really came around to that song either, a big part being pretty musically plain and yes, feels very... social media friendly, good description

Cruel Summer, Lover, Archer, Americana, Cornelia, DBATC, False God, Afterglow and Daylight are the stars. I personally also would keep Paper Rings and It's Nice To Have A Friend

i've never understood the hype for The Archer, tbh. production-wise, it's a good song, but it just doesn't click with me the way it does for others, i guess

Pretty much my exact list. Lover is my 3rd favorite album of hers, and my #1 pop album of hers

I'm a little mixed on that one, too. I like the lyrics and the concept, but musically, it feels like it's building to something that never comes. It just ends. So I'm always a little unsatisfied with it.

that's EXACTLY it. not saying songs that do that are bad (Robyn's Honey is a good example of a song where this pays off, imo), but most of the time, Taylor's songs have that sort of payoff, so it feels out of place here.

It just feels like they lopped off the second half of the song. I’ve seen it compared to U2’s “With or Without You,” just without the big emotional climax of that song. Which is the best part of the song!

Cut The Archer, The Man, Soon You'll Get Better, and It's Nice To Have a Friend. Fun, decent length album even if there's still a bit of fluff there

all her albums should be 13 tracks; deluxe for everything else

I have Spotify playlists doing just this thanks to one extremely slow week at work.

The Man is just a basic feminism 101 attempt at what she ended up nailing on mad woman

I will get crucified for saying this, but the Barbie movie and The Man are similar to me in that regard.

I’m not all that fond of “The Man,” but she was never, ever cutting that song.

never minded the production on The Man, but the constant claims that all criticisms of her are misogynistic make me not want to return to it as much

The Man is fine as like feminism 101 and was very corporate feminism girl boss of the times. but I also feel like lowkey she's like "these men do sucky things and also I want to get away with them too and its not fair" or maybe I'm unfairly conflating that with her stans who seem to constantly make that argument lol

Also I wish the Chicks were featured more prominently on the song they're in but that's on me for having the expectations they would be and getting too excited and then kinda disappointed
