when was the last time they didn’t give a TS record 5 stars? Her and Bruce are almost always guaranteed a 5 star review from RS.

They called it an instant classic immediately after it dropped lol. Rob Sheffield the reviewer is a huge Taylor fan and actually wrote a book about Taylor that he is doing a book tour for this fall.

iirc, the base album got 5 and Anthology got 4

Man, I enjoy his writing, but holy shit. It’s like when Jon Caramanica of the NYT would consistently place Kanye’s albums, even Donda and Jesus is King, in his annual top 10 because he was writing a book about him. Like what the hell?

loveeeee his writing style but his reviews themselves read like fan-fic.

I had to stop listening to that NYT podcast he hosted because of his hard on for everything Kanye. He is a tough listen.

I remember when the review dropped people were saying how they felt like it was a conflict of interest for someone who is not only a clearly massive Taylor fan but also has a book coming out about her to be writing the review, there was a loooot of discourse surrounding that

  19. OhTheWater

    Let it run Supporter

I, for one, would like a review from a person who can fully immerse themselves in an artist's career and talk about the album in that context. I don't see why that'd be a "conflict of interest" as if reviews should be objective and unbiased. Why not let a knowledgable person write about something they like?

I agree to be clear, but a lot of people had issues with that for some reason ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Reinvented pop music? Not a fucking chance…reinvented the go to market strategy for a pop star, absofuckinglutely.

where would i be if i was my brain Prestigious

It’s also just easier to say reinvented pop music than what you suggest.

True for the most part, but he also gave TTPD a higher rating than folklore so we gotta take these things with a grain of salt haha

    I'm kidding...mostly lol

I really have had no urge to go back to this album in months. It’s weird, because I think I probably like it better than Midnights, but felt way more draw to keep listening to that one than this one.
