  1. i'm just built different

  2. I don't know how I'd even hear one of his songs unless I purposefully hit play on a song on Spotify.

Out in the world? Where people have experienced hit songs for decades?

His songs don’t play out and about in Southern California for the most part

  5. I dunno! I guess it's possible I've heard his music out in the wild but just didn't go out of my way to find out who it was by. There aren't a lot of places around here (especially places that I go to) that play country music, so that whole world is pretty out of my wheelhouse, in general. Sometimes I search out new country music, but I generally can't stand male country singers, so I skip those within the first couple seconds of hearing their voices haha.

I hadn't even heard a single Slipknot song until like a year ago when someone on here gave me their most popular song to listen to, and I didn't recognize it at all. I normally just switch to something else if something comes on that I don't like or don't want to listen to.

They don’t play anywhere I frequent in New Jersey either. At least not to my knowledge.

Yet at the same time he played two shows at MetLife Stadium last month, which is only 30 mins from my home.

Country music in NJ is huge, but I’m not remotely in tune with these artists. I guess you have to listen to certain radio stations (I listen to none) or playlists (that type of music won’t be on any I listen to). If you don’t do that you’d have to specifically search for the artist to give them a shot.

Slipknot is much more avoidable than the longest-running chart topper of the decade, though. Even places that don't usually play country music played "Last Night," because it was a massive pop hit. Now, granted, I didn't hear it as much out in the world as the second longest-running number 1 of the decade (Harry Styles' "As It Was") but I still heard it plenty.

    It sadly slaps.

i apologize for just now getting to respond to this (currently on vacation). i do get what you're saying, and i'm not saying other artists aren't using the same methods she is. i agree with you that she's more aggressive about it. i don't usually pay attention to you what's charting or how artists market their work, so you definitely know more about how this works than i do. i also probably shouldn't have used "traditional" when i meant a level of promotion that's on par with other artists. that being said, i guess my overall point is that even if everyone uses these methods, it's not happening at the same level as Taylor given her output since 2020 onward, and it feels gross that a billionaire with one of the largest resource bases to promote her music not only drops more copies around the time that others are close to reaching number one (even if purely coincidental), but is still trying to do for an album that so many people (including her fans) supposedly had mixed feelings about (for the record, i really liked quite a bit of the base album). i get the first week sales spike since she built anticipation with 4-5 variants and not releasing any singles beforehand, but if she didn't release those other 11-12, i doubt this thing would chart at number one week after week (even including streaming), which is okay! it's perfectly fine to have an album that isn't at the top of the charts for two whole months, and she of all people can definitely afford that. at this point, tons of people have heard this album, and every time she tries to change it up to maintain that spot, it just looks like she's grasping at straws. only her most dedicated fans are buying these extra copies at this point, and only for that song. of course it's an effective method for staying at the top, but if only a small subset of major fans are buying it - and not the general public, who she usually has great success with - does she really deserve those accolades if she can't market it to the widest audience possible? for everyone else but those fans, it's just not effective. sorry for ranting. i think we're all just tired of it.

Ohh had no idea that was him because I immediately change the radio station when I hear this line

I only listen to the radio when I'm in a work car that won't sync with my Bluetooth nobody @ me ok

  21. The only non racist thing I know about Morgan Wallen is something I noticed the other day. This is what happens when you google Dan Nigro, a certain artist I want Taylor to collaborate with at some point

I clicked on the image out of curiosity

...and yep, I wonder how Dan feels about being mistaken with him of all people lol

I was just listening to Britney's Blackout and it dawned on me that Reputation is kind of Blackout coded. If Taylor released Rep TV with a Piece of Me cover variant I'd buy a copy lol

And thanks to all the articles of Taylor not wanting others to get number 1s, I'm listening to Charli for the first time and Brat is a fun listen so far.
