I feel like I keep seeing so many comments on social media from people rationalizing into like this.

Like a lot of “if you ignore the bad lyrics, the fact it sounds like a lot of her other songs and also that it’s a little boring… it’s actually pretty good!”

Idk how any of you put up with her garbage. Shes literally Elon Musk for white women.

I must have missed the part where Taylor Swift bought an important social media platform, used it to influence the outcome of an election, and then teamed up with Donald Trump to slash up the federal government.

I don't recall her Hitler salute, maybe I'm just not paying attention

Tbf her albums blow up similarly to his cars

The chat is mysterious and important.

Sadly already over this album.... I don't think I've had the urge to listen to an album more than once since Folklore. Maybe Midnights.

    The Taylor fatigue is real.

All this did was make me go back to Red and 1989, tbh

This ended up being about as boring as you'd expect from a capitalist billionaire who's making commodity music. The Folgers of music. It's been refreshing to read the rational takes (not dumb conspiracies) on this album.

I definitely have TSwift fatigue and am kinda annoyed by her album strats/feuds/etc but there'll be a day when I'm in the mood to listen to her and I'll have so many albums to go back to since I didn't listen to this or TTPD and only heard Midnights once and that'll be a good day

I'm curious how much the album being received more poorly than her previous ones has actually pushed the sales figures, like those being curious to check it out to see if it's as bad as the reception has been from some corners. I imagine nothing overly substantial compared to her marketing game just working so incredibly well for her and the general Swifties wanting to eat it up but still interesting to consider.

Had a fair amount of casual listens over the weekend and then a more focused listen on my commute this morning, overall I don't think the album is great as a whole, but the good stuff is pretty good. Doesn't tread much new ground, far from her best, but enjoying more more than initially.

Cutting my 4 least favorite really smooths the whole thing out

this is about where i've ended up with it too. could be a lot better, but enjoying it more.

still need to revisit her first album, but here's my current discography ranking:

    folklore
    evermore
    Red
    Midnights
    reputation
    1989
    Speak Now
    TTPD
    Fearless
    Lover
    TLOAS
    S/T

    Revised ranking/hot take

    Red
    Folklore
    1989
    Evermore
    Speak Now
    Fearless
    Reputation
    Showgirl
    Midnights
    Lover
    Tortured Poets
    Self-titled

Listened back to the first disc of TTPD this week, and man, I just find that album to be such a tough hang. There are outstanding songs on it, but so much of it is stuck in the same turgid gear that the lesser songs end up bothering me more than I think they would in a more varied album. I need to try making a single disc version of it again.

  15. when i talk about tortured poets btw i talk about the first disc only. i’ve listened to the anthology part like twice ever and imo it should never have been released

still stand by the idea that somewhere across those 31 songs is a really good 15 track album. it's still incredibly bloated, but i've had more appreciation for its highlights recently

The Black Dog is probably the best song of the 31, which then justifies The Anthology, haha.

At least we know we're helping:

"I welcome the chaos," Swift replied to Lowe in the interview.

"The rule of show business is, if it's the first week of my album release and you are saying either my name or my album title, you're helping," she said.

"I have a lot of respect for people's subjective opinions on art. I'm not the art police," she added. "It's like, everybody is allowed to feel exactly how they want."

TTPD disc one minus Fortnight, I Can Fix Him, loml and The Alchemy. Plus The Black Dog and So High School.

Ive come around on all of TTPD. The anthology does get same-y but the individual songs are beautiful.

I like this one better than the last two. I listened to Anthony Ronald McDonald’s review and agree with almost all of it. I like his take that how a person responds to a Taylor Swift is essentially a Rorschach test that says more about them than it does about her music.

I feel like this is a bit disingenuous because if public opinion is negative sis melts down. But it doesn't help that media has no chill and can't just be normal about her and her art and either has to bring up her personal life or be way too extra. Like CNN and their article about how it can finally be open season on criticizing her. Like stop. Be normal. There's no nuance just either CNN being unhinged or rolling stone licking her boots.

This is basically my trimmed down version, except I kept Actually Romantic in. The lyrics and message is cringe but sonically its pleasant enough.

Even though the highs are higher on TTPD, that album has way too much fat to cut. Same with Midnights. While Showgirl might have a lot of middle of the road songs, its an easy listen and relatively short compared to the rest of her catalog, so it sounds like I might rank this album higher than most people.

I really love almost every song on there, I think there's less skips on the full Anthology for me than most of her other records. It's remarkable how much that album grew on me. I know it's not super popular around here so I'll happily be the resident Tortured Poets fanboy.
