Like enthusiastically singing along to it and getting into it, doesn't necessarily have to mean just dancing!

  5. I watched this so you don't have to, but he gave this album a 4 and basically said everything that we've all been saying too. Might be the only time I have ever really agreed with one of his reviews haha.

that's higher than his TTPD review, iirc

I actually disagree with liking the production on The Fate of Ophelia, that's the thing that drags the track down for me despite Taylor pretty much nailing the song. It's just not very interesting production.

Also he gave the album a lower score than I would, but it gets the general sentiment across I guess

I like the restrained production on Ophelia. It still feels intentional in a way that a lot of the later tracks on the album don’t.

The production on “…Ophelia” is the best thing about it imo. Taylor does not feel dialed into it to me. A moment or two that are pretty catchy, but mostly a lazier version of that kinda big Swift single.

Also, I think it’s funny that “Anti-Hero” is still the Swift single I hear the most when I’m out. I heard “…Ophelia” once I think, maybe it’ll become inescapable (I don’t pay attention to the charts)? But, I don’t know that Showgirl or Tortured Poets will have the broad long term impact past releases have had.

only thing i heard out in public so far was some girl blasting Ophelia through her car speakers last Friday when walking across the Chapman University campus in Orange, CA

Both “Ophelia” and “Life of a Showgirl” have been getting play on the radio. It’s just been several days, so I’m sure they’ll be inescapable soon.

I heard Opalite on the radio earlier which was fun.

I think The Fate of Ophelia is her best lead single since Mine, I love everything about that song.

Ophelia is one the best pure pop songs she has ever released, IMO. Just radio-ready, big chorus, great production. I am debating on my head if it tops “The 1” as an opener, it is very close. Still behind State of Grace, for me though.

I think it would come third in my opener ranking after State of Grace and Mine. Those two are just such perfect ways to start an album.

It’s hard for me to think about and compare her “lead singles,” given how her rollouts have gone for her last 5 albums. I almost don’t even think of that as a real category anymore? Certainly like “…Ophelia” less than Anti-Hero” or anything from the folklore/evermore cycle, and also less than “Look What You Made Me Do.” (Though, I don’t think that one feels as charming to me now that the worst version of that mode dominates this album.)

Also don’t think it’d be very high among her openers, but I didn’t play that “rank each track number” game, so idk. (“State of Grace,” and “Fearless” come to mind the most.)

  18. state of grace is her best song. make a rock album!!!

Yeah, “State of Grace” is definitely top of the list for me in terms of directions I wish she’d explored more. Every time she makes an album, I still hope she’ll go that route. Maybe someday.

As predicted, the next digital deluxe is out now, and again it's the same deluxe as the CD version but with 2 more voice memos

Respectfully, it is so stupid. Any Adele record she breaks will have an asterisk of "had to release 50 different versions to con fans into buying multiple versions".

I feel like Adele’s album has an asterisk too because she withheld the album from streaming for 7 months but at least then she gave a valid reason for doing so. What Taylor is doing just makes her seem chart obsessed. She got that criticism a lot during TTPD and I thought maybe she would tone it down but I guess not haha.
