where would i be if i was my brain Prestigious

I listened to it once and didn’t feel an immediate urge to listen to it again.

I was hoping something would stand out but not yet.

Since you made this post, I’ve listened to it twice because I hear it now too and can’t place it. Is it something by The Weeknd?

lol I was literally in that thread and said that record is actually really good and that people were overstating how bad it was. I also didn’t say people were being obtuse and shouldn’t have initial reactions.

that record is good. This record is not. I trust my ears.

You can’t because the time she was the worst with it (and almost everyone was) is when every variant purchased counted as a unit for Billboard. She did it for one reason - money.

oh, and she sold storage boxes for one album. Yeah, she’s encouraging catching them all.

I've heard that Sabrina album so many times and I somehow dislike it even more now than when I first listened

for those who picked this up on vinyl, is the inner sleeve anti-static/HDPE? saw someone unbox it and noticed the record is kept in some sort of plastic inner sleeve

Having a song with a hook of “Good thing I like my friends canceled” in 2025, with everything going on currently in the world, is so tone deaf it is absolutely mind-boggling how this made it onto the record. Is this about Blake Lively? What is this, and why now?

For someone as meticulous as Taylor, this album has a lot of unforced errors - unless they serve nothing other than to drive “controversy” and put her into the spotlight. Something not totally new on her part, but something that feels particularly gross this go round.

I don’t know what she’s trying to say with that song, but I’ve kinda seen it as The Man, Pt 2 because of some of the lyrics. (But I don’t think it’s about Blake if only because supposedly this was recorded before all that happened.)

Craig and I were talking the other day about how we were kinda hoping this album would rise to meet the moment. In most ways, it doesn’t.

Admittedly I was only here to creep a thread I was told was entertaining, but I’ve been meaning to ask you for weeks, did you write a Sesame Street book about a race on Easter??

frustratingly, i would’ve loved an album that shone a light on, and dissected, the machinations of being a show girl. an album with the glamour of the poppier entries like 1989 painted over the reflection and introspection of folklore and evermore would’ve been phenomenal. give me tracks about tour exhaustion, the isolation that comes notoriety, having to put on an extravagant show even on your worst days, etc. maybe even throw in a full circle moment that talks about the potential effects of marketing one’s life/career into time capsuled eras and how it might be difficult to come to stand on the other side of that tour with the expectation, internal or external, to have to come up with “the next era”

the promotion footage for this cycle made me think we’d get a deconstruction of what it is to be a star. maybe i’m a bit naive, as it definitely wouldnt be a safe direction to go in at all, but damn would it have been a treat to listen to

I legit just said to @irthesteve in a conversation we’re having “outside of father figure, none of these fit the album motif” and he said “zero concept to be found.” And I think some of the disconnect with these songs all of us are feeling is that the album we thought we were getting bangers + what you said, we didn’t get.

Just got out of the “movie”. The Life of Ophelia music video is SICK. Heightens the song even more for me.

I feel like it'd be more referencing Brittany Mahomes cause she got criticized for befriending her since she's MAGA but has continued to be photographed hanging out with her regularly

I don't think she's been seen with Blake as much since those cringey texts got out of Blake calling Taylor her dragon or whatever that was.

This is a really good point, and definitely something I was thinking listening to the closer today. It feels way more like “the wedding album” to me than the “highs and lows of the tour” album.

Taylor has also confirmed she has no concept of actually being cancelled and what that means because she continues to push the narrative she was cancelled even tho she's never even come close. So she probably also views herself as someone who was cancelled and rose from the ashes or whatever.

Ophelia, opalite, ruin the friendship, wood, honey, showgirl are all solid entries. She’s always been good for a few cringe lyrics so I’m not going to stay holding that against her no.

This isn’t comin close to dethroning pool kids as my AOTY, but an album where I really enjoy half the songs? That’s a solid album that I wouldn’t put at the bottom of her discography by any means.

during the Reputation error she said that being canceled means people literally want you dead and I'm not sure how my eyes didn't roll out of my head
