Charli is not my thing at all so I’ve never listened to brat. Just went and threw on Sympathy and man, it makes Actually Romantic seem so much worse with that context (if it is indeed solely about her.)

 

“Fortnight” is miles better than anything on this

If you go to the Twitter thread shared earlier with her explanations of the songs, it does seem to solely be about her.

 

Is Lover the consensus low point for her? I think Midnights and a lot of TTPD are much worse

 

Ruin The Friendship is actually really good. It’s not the vibe I thought I was getting from this record, but it might be my favourite.

 

Reputation has always been my least favourite and it still is despite coming around on it a lot.

 

Lover has Cruel Summer and that song is an absolute gem.

 

Yeah, Reputation is my least favourite, then Lover.

 

It's my least favorite so it's the one I compare against. Midnights and TTPD were much more enjoyable listens than Lover and Showgirl are.

I think it’s less “samey downbeat pop” than the last two albums, than people here have been saying. But it’s still pretty flat especially for an artist of her magnitude

Reputation clears Lover on every conceivable metric.

 

They’re both half awesome and half totally forgettable if you ask me!

 

“Did you girlboss too close to the sun?” is one of her worst lyrics

 

Lover, Tortured Poets, and this are her clear bottom 3 for me.

Midnights I actually liked a fair amount, though idk, maybe it’d land differently if the albums were released in a different order? Poets is so bloated for me and as distinct for most of its runtime, though, that it became muzak. And, the lows on here are easily lower than the lows there.

It’s possible that one total good album could’ve been made between Tortured songs and Showgirl songs, and that if Tortured didn’t happen & that composite follow-up dropped today, I’d like it. But because I’m not in that timeline, it’s hard to say.

 

Midnights is my least favorite Taylor album. On first listen TLOAS clears it, but not by much.

Ruin the Friendship and Wood are great songs, but nothing else really caught my attention.

 

Anyone think that we're finally seeing that she's dragging the bottom of the barrel and maybe she should disappear for, oh, I dunno, a couple years?

 

I’m not a Swiftie but I enjoyed this way more than Tortured Poets which I found to be an absolute snoozefest and downright annoying in places.

 

I remember this being the common naysayer opinion during Reputation era and disagreeing hard. Feels like it’s finally true.
