    Horrible

  2. Breihan refers to "wild, indulgent decisions" on this album, says there are more than on Reputation. I just don't hear that at all. Maybe in the lyrics? Which to me are so lacking in self-awareness or self-reflection (at first blush, mind you!) in a way that's really disappointing coming off the last one, which I think was underrated in that respect.

I just read that one and I like it a lot. I definitely share a similar opinion about her, this record, and how people seem to react to her.

There are like 8-9 songs on Lover better than anything on here.

I don't actually hate the album fully, I'd probably give it around a 6 or so but it's just baffling with the rollout for it how it turned out

I totally understand Taylor fatigue and looking at this album a bit more strictly than the last few, but I feel like the missteps on lover were way bigger than the ones here. I'm not crazy about hearing a bunch of songs about Travis Kelce, but the Charli stuff doesn't bother me in the least (and i really love that song melodically/instrumentally) and the corny lyrics aside, this is a relatively easy and inoffensive listen for me, for the most part. I do agree that if she wanted to get back with MM/Shelback it doesn't make sense to not lean heavily into the ''pop bangers" territory. The production is obviously different than the Jack sounds we've heard but it also isn't distinct enough to call for the reunion here. They also did a huge disservice with the promo and marketing because none of it fits with the sound, in my opinion

Is Actually Romantic is a failed attempt at an Olivia Rodrigo song?

  11. besides the two lead singles i mostly find a lot of the less good stuff on Lover to be kind of fun. I have fun listening to "London Boy" lol

Yeah, there was an intent there that comes through better.

I just don't hear it on Showgirl.

Album title and art had me thinking she'd have a track like Christina Aguilera's Candyman or something lol

This album is so dull from a “big hooks” perspective it has me checking the credits on 1989 to see who else was in the room on those sessions.

I was expecting big bright crisp tunes. Was expecting 1989-level bangers really. But this is just TS on autopilot

  19. Just finished my first listen and I'm... bored? "Honey" was the only one that possessed me to fav it. Wild to get to the penultimate track before finding a highlight.

Not a single song on this album is even remotely close to as good as half the songs on Lover

Yeah, I don’t think this record is bad, but it is boring. I didn’t find either of the last two boring, even if they were pretty hit and miss on a track-by-track level. This felt longer than TTPS, despite being about a third of the length.

The Fate Of Ophelia, Opalite, Ruin The Friendship, and Honey were the only really tracks I remember actively enjoying.

Tough that there’s one song here that’s EXACTLY what I was hoping for from a music/vibe standpoint and it’s an ode to Travis Kelce’s boner

    edit: funny too, though
