I was pleasantly surprised by that one. I thought the new Miley Cyrus album was surprisingly good too.

The new Zara Larsson is a nice surprise as well considering she used to put out very uneven albums. She found her lane

Nvm that was discussed a few posts later, damn this thread moves fast lol

Cancelled! feels a bit like Vigilante Shit filtered through Reputation so it makes sense that it's my least favourite on here.

I cannot wait for the pearl clutching that’s going to come once parents take their kids to the movie over the weekend and run into the lyric videos.

Max and Shelback slept through this one. Everything is lacking punch and bite. The definition of just ok

I feel like she's taken some lyrical theme inspo from chappell and Sabrina with trying to do the sexual clever thing. Not that they invented that but lyrically the charli song kinda seems like it wants to do a "my kink is karma" type thing but that just feels like a miss for me.

I know sis has always contained multitudes cause she's always had albums with songs that have lovely relatable lyrics and also the corniest cornball stuff. I just need to accept that she's always gonna have a few songs that make me go ??????

Opalite was the only song I enjoyed.

Just an insane drop off looking back on her 2020 through to now.

The whole album feels like what pop music is in 2025, with a little Taylor flair, but mostly simpler lyrics and song structure.

The brevity of the album really is one of it’s strengths.

I haven’t fully listened yet (up to eldest daughter) and was one of the people hoping we got more rep vibes this album cycle, and it definitely just feels like the Taylor we’ve had. Not a bad thing! Just was hoping we’d get a lil switch up, but I’m relatively enjoying the listen so far (even though I winced at the bigger dick dealing with the devil or w/e line)

This is gonna do numbers…got to work this morning and every hetero white girl 32-45 that is here is living for this right now. Make them coins boring Barbie!

also, just shocking that so many of these people don’t know anything about Charli besides boom clap. Did Brat not penetrate the horse girl/normie contingent?

The takes I’ve seen on this album, both in this thread and otherwise, are so wildly disparate. Any Taylor album is polarizing at this point, but this is definitely the most all-over-the-place the reception has been since Reputation.

On first listen the only great song I see myself coming back to is the title track. Great melody.

I just can’t get over her coming for Charli like that…Sympathy was a look at Charli’s personal insecurities, it wasn’t a Taylor diss song.

I mean, calling her a coke head on record is some wild mean girl behavior. Punching down on another female pop star is so gross.

I'm nearing my end of my first listen through and I'm thoroughly unimpressed. I am glad I have this thread to write in though because any Swift discourse elsewhere is quite insufferable.

I think her promotion heavily discussing Martin/Shellback on board did have me thinking we'd have a lot more high-tempo and upbeat musical songs. I even then thought when she revealed the aesthetic that we'd have a lot more show or even the tragic outcome of a showgirl but it just all falls so flat. I agree with whoever said they don't get how she talks about being so excited writing these songs.

There's so many moments throughout my first listen where I thought 'that sounds like that other song' of hers. I can go back through and pick specific examples but I'm surprised that we have different producers, the ones she produced her highest highs with and that shes produced more of the same? Its very disappointing.

I truly believe that most Charli fans have no idea how small Charli actually is because when you’re in on Charli, she feels massive. Obviously Brat had a pretty big moment in a certain crowd culminating in Coachella’s moment. She’s had decent size tours. But it had less mainstream cultural breakthrough than Chappell Roan at the exact same time.

I mean, if someone says they like “Boom Clap”, I can’t necessarily extrapolate from that and think the same person would also enjoy “Club Classics”, but I can see them being fans of “Cruel Summer”
