Everybody’s so punk on the internet.

HI TAYLOR! (She won’t see this because she’s lurking the TSL thread)

I know it's not supposed to be a 1:1 of it but it's wild how much more interesting George's Father Figure is than this one lol, although there's something to be said about George Michael's closeted sexuality that brings much more meaning to the lyrics than....whatever Taylor is doing on her spin

I would love nothing more than her fan base to begin to revolt over the constant sucking of money from their wallets.

I don’t think music stores are able to host listening parties, people have been saying their local record stores have cancelled their listening parties they had scheduled because of Taylor’s team.

Interesting! Ours here is still doing it. But that’s awful if they’re clamping down on those.

You guys weren’t kidding. The first handful of songs had me thinking I was going to be an outlier in enjoying this, but from the Charli song on, it is inconsistent to the point of feeling like something of a mess. Lover is a good comparison - some really good tracks here, even if none as good or memorable as any on there, and then some real duds. Overall, after one listen I don’t think it’s bad, but I was expecting more, or at least something a little fresher.

She tries to get on Charli for the coke but she could use some to help speed up the tempo of this album good lord

Played this loud while making dinner this evening, and you know what? I dig it. Definitely improves on good speakers with big, booming bass. And as much as some of the lyrics are cringe, a more focused listen underlined some classic Taylor songwriting for me in songs like "Ophelia," "Opalite," "Eldest Daughter" and especially "Ruin the Friendship."

Damn the title track could actually pop off if the rest of the album wasn't so musically one note

Album is aggressively fine, don't see myself going back to it really though. What a shame after all the hype they did with the producers and pared down tracklist

I don’t need a Megan Moroney diss track so we can cancel the Taylor Swift return to country proactively.

But I do need the Taylor/Hayley Williams Morgan Wallen diss track, though.

why is there a small part of me that thinks Taylor is indifferent to Morgan Wallen (or at least wouldn't talk shit about him the way Hayley would)?

I was just about to say that he's not the kind of person I would expect her to speak up about. And then I was going to jest because he's not a woman but I don't actually think that's true

2025 Taylor collabs with Morgan Wallen rather than talks shit. Like, let’s be real

Taylor may not hate Morgan Wallen, but she hates he can steal her charting records which to her may be the same thing.

I’m being more facetious than literal - I just don’t see a world where this version of Taylor makes some stance against Morgan Wallen.

What in the world is Father Figure. Who is this about?

also, this might be the least confident that Taylor has ever sounded, the meta lyrical content, the focus on haters, the oppressed energy, just reveals an artist so clearly insecure in her place in music.

It’s the most online millennial her lyrics have ever been - it sounds dated and it comes out tomorrow.
