Yeah, it's a bit clunky lyrically and melodically. I did really start getting into it during the bridge but then it kind of just went back to the stomp clap chorus. Ahh well, maybe it'll grow on me.

  3. actually paying attention to/able to hear the lyrics for wood and man uh...good for Travis Kelce I guess..lol

  4. Yeah, I'd say it and Ava Max both have more energy to the songs, but also feel .. hmm, I'd say dated? at the same time. Like, big in 2014. Enjoyable, and outliers in the grand scheme of pop, and also unfortunately both just zero culture cache.

The more we shit talk this the more versions of the album we'll get.

    And more annual releases.

Overall I really liked this, I thought most of the songs were pretty great with maybe 3 I didn't care for which is pretty standard for her. One bad thing about shorter albums though is that even a few weak songs can end up being 1/4 of the record.

I thought the production overall had some nice moments but felt less interesting to me than what she was doing with Jack on Midnights and Tortured Poets. I think my first impressions aren't that far from how I felt about those two on first listen though and they grew on me a ton so hopefully this does too.

Funny you say that, because I've actually seen Zara finally starting to get her flowers this era. She's opening for Tate McRae on tour and I'm constantly seeing things about how Zara feels like the actual headliner set ( her live show is always amazing). But yes, relatively still nowhere near any big names.

I swear also the sheer juggernaut, corporate rollouts she’s been doing have been (fairly) coloring people’s reactions to her music these days. It’s hard to separate the bad taste that leaves.

So how awkward is it going to be for the kids going to theaters and watching lyric videos

was just thinking about this, but also what the general reaction will be for some (not all) Swifties who go all out to celebrate the new album like it's the Eras Tour film.

can't believe i'm saying this about a Taylor album, but it probably could've used more tracks (or at least better ones in place of some of the others)

I bought a ticket when they went on sale not reading the fine print that it’s non-refundable, so I guess we’ll find out.

I understand that every Taylor album is an event, but this is such a weird one to have a movie theater premiere for. First, because of the energy, or lack of it for this. Second, yeah, it’s weird there’s no content warning for this. Guess kids are gonna find out she has a dick bigger than the devil.

The Eras Tour absolutely made sense because of the prices and ticket scarcity. And I initially defended her decision to do this because more places likely have theaters than music stores where they can celebrate the premiere. But I don’t know. This does not feel like something meant to be listened to with a big party atmosphere.

she's going off of blind faith that it'll be just as big of a hit to spend an hour and change watching one music video, 11 lyric videos, and BTS footage as it was to watch a 3 hour concert film of the biggest tour of all time. even if she makes a ton in ticket sales, it's delusional to think people will have the same reaction or do it again the next album cycle if they weren't satisfied with this one.
