Same. But Thrice is arriving a day early from Target it looks like. Some favorites don't let you down.

folks expecting a ton of mid-2010s Max Martin bangers might be disappointed. a lot mellower than the promotion let on, although there are some solid, recognizably Max/Shellback moments here. Wood is the big standout

Going on a road trip with a couple friends to Vermont tomorrow. I’ll jam to the album then

In their defense, opening CD cases was harder than it needed to be.

I think literally everyone is expecting bangers, sooooo...backlash incoming?

    Anyway, 11s:

    Holy Ground
    Dancing With Our Hands Tied
    This Love
    Our Song
    Invisible String
    Karma
    Forever & Always
    Cowboy Like Me
    Innocent
I Can Fix Him (No Really I Can)
    London Boy

Some real bangers and some real stinkers in this category.

Oh man, I can't believe those "Actually Romantic" lyrics are real. Not the best look that she's using her platform on that brand of pettiness in the year 2025.

I was just in Randolph, VT this past weekend. Loved it. Had the best breakfast burrito in my lifetime at this joint called Wit and Grit.

it's not even an exciting song either, and it really runs contrary to the whole idea of Brat being this confessional, unedited dialogue on insecurity. if you have to air your grievances in a song, there's a classier way to do it that's not gonna paint you as petty, but you went with this instead?

Maybe it’s just me but seems like a trend of T Swift going after any female artist that threatens her in terms of shine/success. Incredibly weird and petty.

I do not understand how people find Telegram channels.

But yeah depending on the Charli line I may actually lose interest. Very dumb.

I have no kind of attachment to Charli as an artist or Brat itself ("Sympathy Is a Knife" is the only song on that album I really like), but Taylor's diss tracks are just historically bad and almost always feel like punching down.

exactly. and she always tries to pair it with this juxtaposition of being the victim in some capacity, but that any attacks she levies are justified because the opposing side isn't nice to her. it made sense to ponder harassment on Reputation, but she's the biggest musician in the world now. this "woe is me" narrative is really worn out, disingenuous, and unrelatable.

Maybe in terms of popularity it’s punching down but imho Charli is the far more talented and superior pop star. Just one man’s opinion.

If someone wrote Sympathy Is a Knife about me after I took them out on tour, one of the biggest tours ever, I'd probably react in a petty way too, though. Like, I haven't heard the song (and won't until at least tonight), but it's pretty easy to understand. Especially in the history of someone who has been "betrayed" by friends and hasn't let anything go ever once in her whole life.

sure, but unless they just have personal beef the public doesn't know about, it's hard not to see it as Taylor being insecure about another woman expressing her insecurities about being in orbit of the biggest pop star in the world

Even when she is "in the right," her diss songs are a tough hang. Like, she definitely had every right to write something about the initial brush with Kanye, but "Innocent" is such an oddly patronizing song.

I don't agree with you, but I'm obviously not talking about "punching down" in terms of talent. Even after Brat, Taylor Swift is still monumentally more famous and powerful than Charli XCX. That's what I mean by "punching down."

For all the flowers she has earned over the past year and a half, Charli XCX is orders of magnitude less popular and famous than Taylor Swift. I don't have to like it, it's just how it is. Absolutely punching down.

How much is Taylor knowing its going to cause conversations, and probably statements from her, and people will stream it out of curiosity and etc etc
