looked in my own library and the only things that didn't get updated were some one-off singles and the Platinum Edition of Fearless. sure the latter will eventually be updated
at least the revisionism with Better Than Revenge made some sense at the time. the new changes do feel a bit unnecessary. only reason i could see her changing things this late is that the label said at the time that she couldn't add "bitch" and "goddamn" to the album without branding it with a Parental Advisory label, and now that she has the masters, she's gonna do whatever she wants.
The first two episodes were pretty solid, and did a great job of highlighting other people who helped make her vision of The Eras Tour a reality. I know we can all just be cynical assumed everything she does is self-serving, but I feel like the emotions that are portrayed in the documentary are genuine. I cried a couple of times, lending primarily to how much The Eras Tour means/meant to my wife who has been a Swifty since the very beginning when her late father bought her a copy of this small country artist’s debut CD. My wife’s connection to Taylor is a deep and genuine as anyone’s connection to music as I’ve ever known.
The documentary is incredible so far imo. I’m a sucker for all the super behind the scenes footage after not having much for so long. It’s also pretty emotional and not in a forced way. my favorite was seeing her back at a hotel/apartment after the show and still having her karma outfit on, becuase they get her out of the show so fast there’s no time to change haha
I honestly just can't get enough of her practicing/riffing, singing in the car, in her hotel, soundcheck, etc etc etc
I mean this as kindly as possible, but that much music, let alone that much of one artist, is deeply unhealthy behavior.
she's gotta have it going on a loop in the background, right? i don't think anyone can actually listen to that much music in a year
Yes it is just a "most played" not "most listened" because she was asleep for many of the hours, it's probably just always on no matter what she's doing, or if she's even there
Spotify Wrapped should be legally required to calculate the resource drain this kind of “always on in the background” listening causes. Like, what amount of energy was required to repeatedly dial up “The Albatross” for this girl, versus what it would have been if she’d just had an mp3 on her phone?
One of the worst offenders of her trying to squeeze so many big words into an existing Dessner track and ends up with no hooks or real melodies
I saw the tour pre-TTPD, so I watched that section of the film tonight. Daddy/High School, Who's Afraid and second half of Smallest Man were SO good, Broken Heart felt a bit muted, the rest I didn't miss seeing.
I’m glad I saw the tour when I did. I went 2 LA shows so this was prior to TTPD, but she also had Long Live at the time. We got No Body No Crime with Haim too which was cool. Also felt really lucky with my surprise songs (King of My Heart, I Know Places my first night and New Romantics and New Years Day night two)
