One of the most capitalist queen things I’ve seen is the button where you can add all three variants to the cart at once.

Combined with the usual "available for 24 hours" is just so gross lol

 

I say this as someone who likes this album: Imagine thinking The Life of a Showgirl is an album you need to own multiple vinyl variants of. I think variant collecting is pretty dumb and wasteful in most circumstances, but a non-canon album from a juggernaut pop star, that will be readily available for the rest of time, is definitely low on the list of candidates.

 

She really just beats her albums to death now, doesn't she? Makes it hard not to sour on them.

 

Non-canon? Why do you say that, I'm not up to speed..

 

By that I just mean: not one of her best albums, not a meaningful evolution from her past work, and not an album that has any of her best songs. It will not be mentioned in her obituary and is not vitally important to telling the story of her career.

 

I think her obit would mention 1989, Red and maybe TTPD???

 

Now that I think about it, it'll probably just be the four AOTY winners.

 

Ah yes but when her personal life is so tied to her career both from her fans and from her own team, this will go down as the Travis love album

 

It came out two months ago and I already feel like that's not really its legacy.

This seems pretty accurate. Lover is the one I really struggle with, because it has 6-7 songs I absolutely adore but is more or less a complete failure as a full album.
