Our Song is good and Picture to Burn is okay. Both worth hearing. She immediately levels up in every way on Fearless

I think. There's a significant gap between Red & 1989 and everything else for me. Those two records are all-timers.

I've been mostly off the Taylor train for a bit now, but the idea of a (possibly) 12 song album with Max has me very intrigued.

I know it's a bonus track but I'd for sure add "I'm Only Me When I'm With You" to a list the most Chorus-core TS songs.

Give me a sub 40 minute pop banger record. 12 tracks max

We reach for the longest shadow

This is best case scenario, honestly. Throw in one or two ballads.

You're going to get this on the initial release that gets replaced a few days after which then gets superceded again with a super deluxe Big Mac edition.

My biggest worry with this album, based only off the title haha, is that this is a concept album... I'm not really convinced she could do an album long story/concept without getting in her own way.

Naming a song “Cancelled!” so it comes up every time someone searches your name with that phrase instead of pictures of you hanging out with MAGA influencers.

    My most current album ranking:

Red: This album fucking rules. Most of my favorite Taylor songs are on here, and I just love the whole vibe/theme of the project.

folklore: The definitive pandemic era album, and a very welcome sonic pivot for her after the initial pop era.

1989: Hearing Taylor go "full pop" was so thrilling in the moment. This is still her best album in that mode.

Speak Now: A few duds on this one, but some of her absolute greatest songs, too. A perfect angsty "cusp of adulthood" record.

evermore: The bummer Christmas album I really needed in 2020. Some people feel like it's just lesser folklore b-sides, but I think it has its own distinct identity.

Fearless: Maybe still the greatest pop-country album ever recorded?

Reputation: The most an album of hers grew on me. I kind of hated it at first, but really came around over the years, in part because it's maybe the most singular album in her catalog.

Midnights: This one is catching a surprising second wind for me, in the wake of a resequencing I did to mimic the flow of Springsteen's Tunnel of Love.

TTPD: Unwieldy and frustrating, but when it hits, it hits.

Lover: A complete fucking mess. There are 5-6 all-time greats on this album, but there are just too many mediocre of outright bad songs jamming up the tracklist, and it has less of an emotional arc than anything else she's made since the debut.

Taylor Swift: I almost never listen to this album. The singles are sharp mainstream country circa 2006 (not my favorite era for the genre), but the album songs mostly feel anonymous and boring.

Oddly enough All The Way just came on while working and I remember how much I love Happiness Is when it was not that popular.

If it’s all over the place, I think Lover laps TTPD and Midnights by a decent margin.

Can’t rank TTPD in good faith because I have never made it all the way through. I enjoy a couple songs from what I’ve heard of it, but all I can associate that album with is the burnout I feel with her

  19. All Too Well woulda been my answer for favorite song for the span of a decade, but the craze around it a few years back was an example of how real world overexposure can affect my enjoyment of something. Again with the burnout thing. I’d say mirrorball is tops for me since then

Exact same. I also hate the 10-minute version, so that soured me on it a little as well. The original is still great, but it’s not my favorite Taylor song anymore, or even my favorite song on Red.

  21. Lover is low for me - like @Craig Manning said, it has a couple of stone cold classics but it also has Me and calm down which are bottom 5 TS songs

And “London Boy,” which I feel like usually flies under the radar because of how bad the first two singles are, but woof, that song sucks.

London Boy is substantially worse than both the singles. I think the singles are fine but don't fit the album at all.

I think “ME!” is her worst song ever. “Calm Down” isn’t THAT bad, but is definitely symptomatic of something I dislike about that album, which is the very clumsy attempt at political messaging.
