Me isn't a favorite by any means, but I actually really like that it feels like a big bombastic panic at the disco song, even without Brendan, I like that she just went full pure joy for a moment there

I really do not like Panic at the Disco or Brendan Urie's voice, so neither of those elements are selling points for me, at all. Mostly, though, I just hate the melody and think the song is stupid.

All I’m saying is Cruel Summer as Lover’s lead single doesn’t fail to topple Old Town Road and it’s insane no one on her team saw that.

I feel like Lover is her only album rollout I have been like wtf girl? I've disagreed with single choices and other things she's done throughout the years but ultimately I got why she made those choices. but I feel like that's her one era that seemed like such a misstep. It felt weird at the time too with it being her first album not part of Big Machine. The lead singles sucked, half the songs aren't good, and it then it had some Purposeful Pop katy perry adjacent type pop political nonsense that she didn't get enough criticism for

Also I know I'm a hater but giving your bfs podcast the exclusive? I feel like she's always wanted to be half of a power couple but sis you don't need to mix your brand with his like this.

Also my last hater comment because I know Chorus seemed to really like So High School but I just can't get behind "You know how to ball, I know Aristotle. Brand-new, full throttle.
Touch me while your bros play Grand Theft Auto."

Okay I'm done. I am interested in the album but sis has lost me the last few.

London Boy is her worst song ever, and given the context now, I do not think it has any path to redemption.

EDIT: I just tried to listen to it again to cement this take and could not make it all the way through. It is untouchable.

Welcome to New York, followed by Exile, may be my least favorite songs of hers.

    Dude…Exile is 100% in my top 10.

Welcome to New York is in my bottom 10. Taylor does not have a good track record with songs named after places. I know people like “Paris” for some reason but it doesn’t do a lot for me.

  12. Based on the last 3 releases there is no doubt in my mind that a “death of a showgirl” album exists

My unpopular opinion is that The Alchemy gives me the same vibes as London Boy where instead of British references, it's traded for cheeky football references...

Welcome to ny is a great treadmill strut song and I think is a cute opener. But it does remind me of when she'd talk about being worried she wouldn't "make it" in New York and I'm like sis I think when people say that they mean they're worried they won't make it success-wise or money-wise and you're rich and famous so I'm pretty sure you'll make it just fine???

I never liked Welcome to New York, but it was my son's first like, favorite song, and now I love it for that. I think it also dominates my last fm now too

I like to think that back in 2014, someone had a conversation with Taylor and said “Let’s scrap ‘Welcome to New York and put ‘New Romantics’ on the standard album”. What could have been!

As said, there are big misses on “Lover,” like “London Boy,” “The Man” and “Me” aren’t good. But I think they’re at least interesting whiffs. I put TTPD under it because it’s just an incredibly boring album with the most autopilot Dessner production.

You just know that Taylor is pre-writing anti-Trav songs just in case to have on hand.

Cute Without the ‘T’ (Cut From the Team) is gonna go crazy in 2027 on TS13.

  24. TTPD has grown on me a ton but I also just lean more towards her later stuff than early stuff (adore red and 1989 of course)

London Boy is so silly and stupid that it winds back to being enjoyable to me
