Misquotes (or incomplete quotes missing context) happen pretty often in entertainment journalism to be fair.

  3. It's possible he was misquoted to the point that his implied meaning on the page was radically different from his intended one but the quotes are so bad I have a hard time believing this is all on the journalist.

He said “She doesn’t write her own songs.” That’s the quote. Pretty hard to miss what he meant by that, regardless of context. And he didn’t say the quotes were wrong, he said they were turned into clickbait, which…if you’re going to torch one of the biggest names in pop music during a conversation with a major publication, is probably going to happen. It’s not the job of the journalist or the publication to make you look good.

Anyway, I’m sure this reporter has a recording of the conversation and could prove the quotes are accurate and presented honestly if they needed to.

He would have a leg to stand on if they quoted or implied he said something he did not actually say, but using something he said as the headline to gain clicks =/= a misquote or incomplete quote

Also kind of funny that the whole thing that started this was that modern artists' songs wouldn't hold up in a concert that was just piano and then he uses that to segue into a jab at Taylor, one of the modern artists who would most soar in that setting

Now I'm imagining Damon Albarn trying to do "Song 2" as a stripped down piano ballad.

Genuine question but are there any britpop band members who aren't total tools? Genuine question cause I wanna support those guys. Feels like all the ones I like are such jerks.

Jarvis Cocker seems cool, I would assume most 53 year old men have dumb opinions about pop music

I think Damon was an ass for saying that without doing any research on Taylor at all, but I think 99% of Swift fans online are the absolute worst and won't rest until he's fucking murdered. They're the worst kind of toxic there can be.

please let this also add fuel to the fire that she potentially got The Civil Wars to rerecord Safe & Sound (even if they weren't in the same room).

I don't really consider stone roses to be britpop but yeah, fair enough.

to my knowledge, there is nothing wrong with the members of ride, suede, elastic, the la's, etc. etc.

also, they originally said "band members" ... the majority of britpop band members are anonymous people that no one could pick out of a lineup, including members of oasis and blur outside of the ones mentioned. weird to assume they would all suck as well considering most people with a pulse know next to nothing about them
