In all seriousness, it’s probably just an All Too Well 7” with the sad girl autumn version on the B-side, yeah?

 

Probably remixes or something like that. People will pretend it’s limited but you’ll see it in stores weeks after the fact.

It was my second least favorite of the Red Vault, but it’s clearly the one with the most traction on Tiktok.

Forever Winter. The lyrics and the music/way they’re sung don’t connect for me at all. They’re two entirely different songs.

 

i like that one, but i agree that i'd like it better with maybe more "boppier" instrumentation.

 

I really like the lyrics, too! They’re quite beautiful/meaningful.

 

See, I think it might need the “sad girl autumn” treatment. Fall more in line sonically with “Soon You’ll Get Better” and “Ronan” as opposed to “Marjorie”—all songs I adore.

 

The way she sings it though reminds me of "Speak Now" or "Sparks Fly." That kind of vibe. But to be fair, I haven't really paid much attention to the lyrics of "Forever Winter."

 

Absolutely. Quite a few of the Red Vault are very Speak Now-era style songs (like “The Very First Night”), which makes sense as to why they were left off the album. Also makes me excited for the Speak Now Vault.

I love how playful the melody on the verses is, but the chorus doesn't hold me the same way. Can't put my finger on why.

I wouldn't say it's not good, exactly. Just that my earballs don't like it as much as some of the other vault tracks and I certainly wouldn't consider it amongst her best.

 

Yeah exactly. It's just kinda there. And with it being a Max Martin song from the Red era, I expected something top notch like the other ones he helped with on Red. But alas...

 

I love Message in a Bottle but I am a Taylor casual and a die-hard Carly Rae Jepsen fan and that song reminds me of her in a big way, for one reason or another, so I was p instantly smitten by it

 

If it helps, I feel like there's a sonic element missing from the chorus of the track for me and I'd probably *get it* about the song more if it was there. Because now that I'm pondering it you're absolutely right, I feel like I'd have LOVED this song if it was Carly and that largely comes down to production.
