She’ll have vinyl available first week, Bruno Mars has never been a huge first week seller, it’s 30 tracks vs 9, and Swifties are insane. I’m sure she’ll still get #1.

 

I think it'll be close, but I imagine Taylor will still beat out Silk Sonic for first week sales.

Yeah I googled it, but I was just saying from the perspective of someone slightly disconnected from the pop scene, I had no clue this was a thing but was very aware of TSwift re-releasing Red.

I very much doubt Silk Sonic outsells this. The sheer length of this re-release is going to get it a huge fucking boost on streaming.

another thing to keep in mind is the sheer amount of physical copies Taylor will sell. iirc, no vinyl has been announced for Silk Sonic as of yet - just CD and cassette - whereas Taylor will have CD and vinyl out on the same day. given that vinyl is currently the best-selling physical medium, Silk Sonic will have to bank on digital/streaming numbers to drive up their position, and given the promotional output by Taylor's team combined with physical copies, i seriously doubt SS will grab the number 1 spot.

 

You’d have to listen to SS 3x to equal one complete listening of Red (TV). Plus you’ll have all the Stan accounts listening and relistening to All Too Well for things to connect to paparazzi photos

 

And again unless 30 is available on vinyl those numbers won’t be as huge for Adele.

 

I wouldn't be surprised if Silk Sonic decided to move their release up a week just to avoid it all

I really wish I knew whether or not there was a colored version of the vinyl coming to Target before I pre-order the regular black one from Taylor's store. It's 10% off right now. Not that it amounts to much, but, anything helps.

 

I feel like most Bruno album cycles are slow burns.

 

10% off still will cost you more than just going to Target on release day to see what they have because you won't be paying for shipping and shit on top of it all.

 

while Target is definitely convenient, i heard word that those red pressings she's done for her last few releases have had somewhat worse sound quality compared to variants you get from her website.

 

That... doesn't really make sense. They're all being made in the same factory, so the only logical explanation for that is that the red color doesn't sound as good as the other colors. That is unless some of the variants are 180g and others aren't.

 

hot take: the variants in her store don’t sound amazing either
