I saw that list last week. It is hilariously wrong.

 

honestly it's pretty good other than evermore being too high

 

Imagine having Reputation over Red.

 

Hot take having Lover so high. Honestly my least favourite album from her.

 

Ranking Lover above Red when your main criticism of the latter is that it’s “uneven” is…lol. Also, there’s a comment about her being “noticeably off pitch at least once in every song” on Speak Now, which is…uh…not accurate.

It struck me as a list made by people who only realized “Oh, hey, Taylor Swift is good!” on 1989, so the first four get shortchanged.

 

It is kind of wild how different the rankings for her albums are. There’s not really an album that all fans agree should be at or near the top.

 

I feel like folklore and 1989 will most likely be in a top 3 as it stands now for most folks (though they're my 3 and 4, don't ask me which is which because it switches regularly), but what the third in that top 3 for most folks wildly differs.

 

I’ve seen both of these toward the bottom on several rankings. 1989, especially, I think gets some backlash because it was so ubiquitous for so long and a lot of people got sick of it. It’s also, IMO, the album of hers that is the least uniquely “her,” which is why it’s not in my personal top 5.

I tried writing out a ranking but it's too hard. I just know that my top three is folklore-1989-fearless, and my bottom two are lover & self titled.

 

Folklore and 1989 are for sure in my top 3. The rest would be difficult to rank for me as I don't think I've done my due diligence to be able to give a fair ranking, besides self-titled being near or at the bottom. Reputation I really enjoyed a lot of the beats and song structures, but the lyrics really soured it for me. (Delicate and New Years Day are fantastic though). Lover was sadly mostly forgettable outside of Cornelia Street (Acoustic) but overall a decent 7/10 album.

Red probably has to be up there with State of Grace and All Too Well.

But one of my top 5 all time favorite Taylor songs is on the debut, so, to be low on the list is still pretty high across my musical spectrum. This is also personal preference ranking... I know objectively quite a few of these are "wrong" when it comes to musical composition, etc.
