1989 Weeks Later was cool, the sequencing was great. It's fun to have like 4 new Taylor albums haha.

Say Don't Go, Is It Over Now? and This Is What You Came For were the highlights on first listen.

 

“Is It Over Now?” is definitely one of the best vault songs, imo.

 

I think it's THE best at this point honestly

 

If Taylor Nation posts about a listening party for Lover today, then I'll believe that this whole thing is an elaborate countdown to a new album.

 

I still think this is “Better Man” but it feels different since we had already heard it in a different capacity.

 

Yeah, I'm a little bit partial to the ones where she doesn't write songs like that anymore, like "I Bet You Think About Me" and "When Emma Falls in Love." And "Better Man," but as @Garrett noted, we'd already heard that song.

Some people have been saying that Rolling Stone said she’s releasing the Reputation vault on New Year’s Day. I can’t find where they said it because the article appears to be behind a paywall.

the publication is suggesting that she should release them on New Year's Day. don't think it's a confirmation of it happening.

This is not a knock on Taylor at all. If anything it's sad to me how low her bar is on honey. Like somebody staying until the morning and not being condescending to her and not being so high they don't remember talking with her is worth writing a song about. I love the song personally. So again, this is nothing against her and more so the sucky lineup of men she's encountered. The audacity

 

I finally listened to all the extra tracks on Red and man does that make for a great throwback album. I'd never listened to the original bonus tracks, or any of the other already released songs aside from Babe, so it was almost all new to me. I would pick standouts but almost every song is great. Ronan probably hit me the hardest but it's also almost unbearably sad.

Message in a Bottle works great as an opener, the sequencing on Craig's version is pretty great throughout (thanks Craig), and I love how much most of it actually feels like Red era Taylor.

It's nice to start the year with a new/old Taylor album to listen to.

 

My fingers are still crossed that we get Debut TV this year for its 20th anniversary.

 

Thanks! I really love that imaginary album especially. Some of the others don't quite have enough bonus/vault tracks to do this with, but that one really works.

I'm sure most Red fans will find some of my exclusions sacrilegious but I think this would be my version of Red if I trimmed it down to one album and it would probably be my second favourite of hers. She really was writing some brilliant stuff back then.

I've also surprisingly come around to the 10 minute version of All Too Well after spending some actual time with it. I still find a couple of the new moments a bit clunky but the parts I love outweigh any of the negatives. I think the overall switch in sound to something more atmospheric and melancholy really works too, it feels like a retrospective of the whole situation from a slightly more removed place. Them both feeling so different helps with neither version feeling superfluous but if I had to choose one it would have to be the longer one which feels crazy to say, maybe it's because I've been spending so much time with it and it's fresher but it just hits me slightly harder right now.
