hard to say exactly what data the various large language models have been trained on, but likely archive.org snapshots of ap.net.

the more i sit around and casually think of ai, the more galvanized my sentiment is that it’s a tool like a drum machine or camera. good for general stuff, but you still need skill / effort / human ingenuity to make anything that isn’t creatively bankrupt / practically worthless.

i doubt tatebot is out there wreaking havoc, but you never know i guess.

  3. WP had a page a while back that showed all the websites and content that went into training the early models or whatever, and you could search through it; chorus, this forum, and AP were all in the top like 100k or something like that. It’s why from day one you could ask it about me and it would give weird answers.

    it may have been this:

Look forward to never listening to the “TV” non-“vault” tracks again outside of Fearless, lol. Very glad self-titled is already done, since that’s the only other one I cared about; will that one maybe now wait for its 20th anniversary next year?

I guess I didn’t realize how many of her fans are streaming dominant (I realize I am the outlier, but I mostly don’t use streaming platforms), but Rep and TS went 1-2 on iTunes yesterday as her younger fans finally bought albums nearly 10 and 20 years old.

She’s one of a handful who probably actually gets a profit from streaming.

Okay this is wild. I am seeing tons of Threads/Tiktoks where people are reacting to hearing Rep and TS for the first time (outside of radio singles). I know she got millions of new fans over the last couple years, but it’s honestly wild to see how many didn’t just listen to the non-TV versions once they were in the fandom. Like, just illegally download them at this point. It’s oddly performative.

So did those people go to the tour and not even know a whole era??

I GUESS?? But also explains why so many think Midnights and TTPD are her best when they’re factually not, haha.

Feel like most of her newer fans would say folklore is her best, which is factually accurate.

    Folklore is best, yes

Cannot fathom listening to any cross section of her music and coming away with the conclusion that Midnights is her best.

I accept any of folklore/red/1989/reputation (there are dozens of us!) as her best, tbh. Speak Now and Fearless from the right argument.

    The five for me are

    1.) Fearless TV
    2.) evermore
    3.) Red
    4.) reputation
    5.) folklore

with the top 3 basically the same tier, then a clear 4 and a clear 5. (Pretty sure that’s still my ranking, but I’ve been burnt out on her existence for like a year and a half, so I’ll have to return and confirm.)

  16. It’s easier for me to name my bottom 3

    Debut
    Rep
    Lover

I’m itching for Debut TV though because the main reason I don’t listen to it is because of her vocals. So I’m looking forward to seeing if that album bumps up my rankings.

i could never accept Midnights as her best, but i do accept it as the album she should've made after Reputation instead of Lover. maintains some of the maturity/sound of that album while being more optimistic sounding. Lover has some very high highs but is all over the place and somewhat juvenile

The thing is that Lover has 4-5 all-timers while Midnights has (generously) 1-2.

The best third of Lover is my favorite material she's ever released

I still stand by that Fearless is her most consistent album she’s ever released. Nothing that really stands heads and shoulders over the other songs and no truly bad song.

I think Lover is theme/direction she was going to do after 1989 until that whole thing went down.

I agree that Fearless is great and probably underrated, but I very substantially prefer the first half to the second half. I often bow out after "Breathe."

I listen to Midnights a ton for someone who has it pretty far down in the rankings. It just feels like summer of 2023.

Team Red over here. A perfect time capsule of where Taylor came from and where she was headed.

Also bowing out after Breathe with Tell Me Why and Forever & Always still to come is crazy work!
