Tbh there's only been one or two songs from the vault I think would've made the original albums even better, which, who knows if that's how they'd even sounded at the time. Mostly from Red because those vault tracks were some of the best imo. Some others have been fun but I don't return to them a lot

We reach for the longest shadow

Are there any good arguments for record labels in 2023?

EDIT: That's probably short sighted. I can't imagine a new band trying to learn how to get their music physically made without some guidance.

Yeah, the business side of music is pretty cutthroat. The indie labels out there are usually pretty decent people though, in my experience.

Good labels are still helpful, the idea of what a label should do is great, but in practice it's rough

Ask me again in a few months...

But from my own point of view, I think for smaller bands, an indie label can help by being another team of people who may have some hookups with websites/blogs/radio/etc and will help you promote/advertise is very useful! I suck at promoting my own bands and I really don't like doing it.

Having a label to help you press vinyl, CDs, tapes, other merch if you are unable to financially do it yourselves is also very nice.

I think the higher up you get in the ladder from basement to Taylor Swift level, there's a ceiling like halfway up where suits start getting too involved and start sucking the fun out of it all by being toooo business oriented and getting more and more out of the band's hands.

For the sake of completionism more than anything, has anyone found a decent vinyl rip of Sweeter Than Fiction yet?

I'm just waiting for the digital release, not worth it for me to get a vinyl rip of a not-great song

Taylor keeps it festive! 1989 taylor's version sounds SO good ! brings me back to 2014, great memories, great early b-day present. still holds up a decade later!
