My wife said style sounds slightly slower? Can’t play them side by side right now to check.

I honestly was thinking quite a few of the songs sound slower, but couldn't figure out if that was a real thing or not.

I had the same thought on Shake it Off, but that was the only one. I also would be very surprised if it actually is, though.

Tracks 1-8, 16 sound pretty bad to me. 9-15 actually sound good. They feel like entirely different projects to me.

The track lengths are exactly the same as original, tempos all the same

  8. she sings a little more subdued on some of these, which maybe is equating to sounding slower to some peoples ears

My wife and kids are at an Eras Tour showing right now and the youngest isn't having it at all so on my way to pick her up - haven't felt like going to a theater to watch it myself, holding out hope it'll be on a streaming platform in the new year.

The Speak Now re-record totally saps that record of every single thing I love about it. Just loses all the emotional fireworks and youthful immaturity that made the original a special document of a very specific part of her life. It's the musical equivalent of watching a 33-year-old trying to play a teenager in a movie.

You ranking the Red vault last is also batshit insane. What's are you doing?!

Quick gut take on the new vault songs is that they're all good but they also all sound like other songs of hers for the most part, and yeah they are very Midnights vibes

They also all kind of sound like each other. Definitely the least dynamic vault.

There is definitely a lot of character taken out of it but there were certain moments I was hoping for an improvement and she delivered. Specifically Enchanted. I also think Fealress suffers the most from this.

No, I mean my vault rankings are the same as you. and I don't even care for ATW 10 mins

Ah, ok! That makes more sense, re: vault. I don't care for the 10-minute version either.

There are a few songs on Speak Now that I do think gained something ("Back to December" sounds wonderful, and "Long Live" actually maybe makes more sense with an older, wiser, more mature-voiced Taylor singing it) but most of the new versions really miss for me. "Last Kiss" and "Dear John" in particular seem really drained of their urgency, and her efforts to tone down the country elements really hurt songs like "Sparks Fly" and "Mean."

The same problems are true on Fearless, but that album never felt as personal or dramatic to me, so I'm able to enjoy it in a "looking back at a high school yearbook" sort of way.

Red Vault just shows how in her prime she was at that time.

Listening to Welcome to New York, production does sound a bit better and maybe more cinematic and smooth but vocally it does have that uncanny valley vibe to me where it just feels.... Less genuine, like sightly more staccato because she wants to exactly recreate it, but loses this sense of how genuine the original dumb song is. Hard to really explain in words, but it's like a feeling.
