The bad news is that the 1989 era is the one that I most associate with my ex, which sucks for me, but the good news is that he’ll be forced to think of me for the next 3+ months that this is in the media muahahaha

Pretty bummed there are only five vault tracks. I think we got spoiled by the Red vault being so substantial.

 

and she wrote over 100 or so for the original album, iirc. was expecting at least a 4xLP, but we only got 2.

Yeah, I remember reading it was somewhere in the neighborhood of 150. Obviously, we're not ever going to hear all that, but I'd love if there was just a full LP of vault stuff for each of these. It really makes the difference for me on whether I purchase the vinyl or not, because I already have the originals and thus far vastly prefer those to the re-records, so if I'm buying, it's for the vault. Red was worth scooping up because there were so many goodies on there. This and Speak Now, not so much.

 

There are roughly 65 songs, give or take, remaining in her discography for the surprise song sections (before we find out how many vault songs are on rep/debut). There are 85 remaining shows (insane), which is 170 remaining surprise songs. I think it's pretty obvious that every song will get played at least once. If she's working towards compiling some sort of live release of each album, I'd be sad to miss some of the main set songs.

 

The shorter the vault sections get, the more I expect that at some point we are going to get an epic series of box sets.

 

Yeah, I'm curious if she might do some sort of big "from the vault: extended version" for each album that consists of like 10+ MORE vault tracks. That would be awesome.

 

i at least want the digital only tracks on vinyl (extra vault songs, Midnights bonus tracks, one-offs, etc.)

 

Can’t believe I was awake for three hours this morning before seeing that this was announced, lol. Even saw the “we were right” trending topic on Twittxr.

Thank goodness the focus of discourse can move from secret songs at shows outside of my tax bracket, into TV discourse.

I think the album cover is fine. It’s less good than the original and the other TVs, but “less good” =/= “bad.” I can see how it fits how 1989 feels to me, personally.

These last 2 nights I saw her were some of the best shows I’ve seen in my life. Going to be thinking about these nights forever!

 

One benefit is that the vinyl is still a double disc, so potentially a money saver in the process?
